A Fair Rejoinder on Ted Cruz
From a friend, I think in fairness and for a different perspective than mine on Ted Cruz, I should pass this on as a view from Texas.
Ted Cruz deserves the backlash and much of his political circle agrees. He chose to be a leader and voters put him in a leadership position. The voters who voted for him expected him to be a leader. Sometimes leaders cannot do anything except show up, like the leader of a battalion sleeping in the mud with his soldiers. He can’t stop the rain, but he can share in the discomfort as a show of solidarity. It is not about optics. It is about taking on a duty of the job — the voluntary sharing of the suffering that a leader must do to show he is a leader.
The bigger problem is that the GOP controls the whole state and none of them want to take responsibility. They are instead blame shifting and not being good stewards of the state or their positions.
That’s a fair point.
