Yesterday, I put up this clip of a monologue on Instagram. The point of the monologue, like my point yesterday here, is that if you are going to hold the other side to moral standards, you must hold your side to moral standards too. Otherwise, you cannot expect the voters to care about your claims to better behavior. “Either we hold our side accountable or we give up claims to moral behavior,” I said. I ended it with “We can’t keep putting moral degenerates in the legislature and then wonder why the nation is in decline.”
Some of the responses:
And:
And:
This really is not a difficult point.
We are all concerned about the decline of the United States — economically, politically, culturally, and spiritually.
If we are not willing to hold ourselves to a higher standard of who we send to elected office and who we keep there, we are going to keep getting the same results.
One need not be the “morality police” to recognize some behaviors are a bridge too far.
On top of that, Republican voters need to understand a sizable portion of the base agrees with me, whether you do or not. It is why Alabama got Doug Jones as a Senator. A sizable portion of the GOP either voted Democrat or stayed home because they would not send Judge Moore to the Senate.
There are a lot of Trump voters who say they will only vote for Donald Trump. But I know far more Christians who’ve decided they’re not making that compromise again, particularly not with him now attacking fetal heartbeat legislation. You may not care about sending degenerates to Washington, but enough people do that the degenerates are going to keep losing to Democrats who make no moral claims at all.
Herschel Walker is another example of that — the only Republican to lose statewide in Georgia in 2022. His lost cost us the Senate. I know a sizable number of Christian women who refused to vote for him, given the allegations against him.
These people aren’t voting Democrat. They are just staying home. And their numbers are growing. They will not vote for candidates who show themselves to be moral degenerates in a party of family values. They are not team players rooting for Republicans against Democrats. They see both parties complicit in the decline and they want good people, not people with a “R” next to their name.
So either police your own side, or lose to greater evils. Enough people are done voting for evil, just because it is the lesser one. You may be okay with it. You can rationalize it. You can justify it. I can even tell you it is understandable and I don’t blame you and go for it.
But enough people of faith are tired of both parties and their moral degeneracy and they will not show up on Election Day cajoled into voting for a candidate whose behavior they abhor.
A Very Basic Point
It may be that 4 more years of Biden is the only cure for Trump. Requiring minimal literacy of voters would take care of the problem, but it won't happen
I've been thinking about what you said yesterday and today. I think that what we're seeing is that nothing is private anymore. The behavior has always been present in amoral or sinning politicians, we just didn't see it. Nothing seems to sink people, anymore, unless you're a person who speaks out. RBrand, EMusk, DTrump, etc. Do you have suggestions for what we do now?
