This moring I told you guys about the Q poll that dropped on Georgia. The Atlanta Journal Constitution just released their polling. It has more bad news for David Perdue. Remember, Perdue released his internal polling in December — just one month ago. It had him crushing Kemp.
That’s not the way any other poll is panning out.
The AJC poll shows a few things.
First, it shows Joe Biden has a strong disapproval rating in Georgia of 50% and a total disapproval of 61%. That explains why Stacey Abrams refused to be on stage with him.
Second, it shows Brian Kemp beats Stacey Abrams with 7.3%. The AJC pollsters say that is “statistically significant.” The actual number is Kemp beats Abrams 48.1% to 40.8%. Perdue actually beats Abrams too at 3.9%, though the pollsters call that “a statistical tie” This is the first major poll showing Perdue ahead of Abrams at all, even though it is technically a tie when applying the margin of error to both of them. Only Kemp’s lead exceeds the margin of error.
CORRECTED: The poll also shows Herschel Walker would beat Raphael Warnock by 3.5%, which the AJC labels a statistical tie. Warnock would beat Georgia’s Agriculture Commissioner, Gary Black by 5 points.
(Editor’s Note: originally, I said Warnock would beat Walker. I misread the line. My apologies.)
Kemp has a 48.3% approval rating in the AJC poll, which outpaces the Q poll approval rating.
This poll did not poll the Republican Primary, but it did note that voters, at this point, don’t care about a candidate having a Trump endorsement and, in fact, in the general election a third of independent voters and fifty-two percent of moderate voters would be more likely to vote against a person with strong support from Donald Trump. That, should Perdue be the nominee, helps Stacey Abrams in the very swingy suburbs of Atlanta.
Thank you Erick - all he does is split and divide the party when we need to stand together as one.
I think Kemp has done an excellent job. I felt like he was very even handed, fair and understanding through the pandemic and the 2020 election controversy. I like it that he stood up to Trump and others criticizing the election in Georgia. He showed he has principles and he is not a politician with re-election at any cost on his mind.
