Ron DeSantis, Florida’s Governor, is expected to announce his run for the presidency in a Twitter Space with Elon Musk tomorrow night.

The question is what happens after that?  From what I’m told, we’ll see a fully formed campaign. He’ll come out hard with logo, message, money, game plan, team, and endorsements. He has used the delay in the announcement to secure endorsements across the nation, stockpile war chest commitments, and study the lay of the land to get a viable message that wins both the primary and the presidency. As of last night, Donald Trump had officially spent more to try to stop DeSantis’s entry into the race than Trump spent to help all Republicans combined in 2022. It didn’t work. Tomorrow, Trump’s fear becomes reality.

Over the past few months, the expectations for DeSantis went down, as did his polling. So now, if he comes out of the gate fully formed and fully operational as a presidential campaign, he has the opportunity for a second look. A big war chest with major endorsements and a solid team in place and waiting in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina will help. If rumors are true, we’ll start to hear a lot about those things quickly.
