Today and tomorrow my radio world pauses as my flagship station, WSB in Atlanta, does its 21st annual Care-a-thon for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
Every year, we try to raise as much money as we can for CHOA because so much of what it does is donor-based and helps kids across the nation. The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is ranked #1 in the country for therapeutic Children's Oncology Group (COG) clinical trial enrollment with access to over 450 clinical trials.
Much of the work is because private citizens step up to donate.
A child who has to stay at CHOA has specialized workers to help them, rooms in which they can distract themselves from the realities of cancer, and rooms designed so the hospital staff never have to go inside and bother the family to retrieve dirty items or give or retrieve food.
If you would, please consider a donation by going here. If you’re in Georgia or can get to Georgia on September 9th, for a $500.00 donation, I’ll let you and a friend drink select bottles of my rather large bourbon collection and eat barbecue with me at my office. Call 888-750-2772 and tell them you want to attend my Bourbon & Butts event and make your donation.
If you can’t make that, but want to grab a beer with me at Stillfire Brewery in Suwanne, GA on October 7th, contribute $500.00 and I’ll hang out with you and a friend with live music, good beers, and some great food trucks.
Regardless, please consider a donation to fight childhood cancer.
Thanks Erick for making our jobs easy! The donations came quickly when you started talking, but I do have to say the Governor's Mansion Tour was an even bigger hit :)
