This is an absolutely wonderful post. Trump is always going to rant when things don't go his way.
He needs to focus on the here and now. Hopefully he will after the 250 celebrations.
What bothers me the most is Congress not fixing the things that need fixing. You don't like how the amendment reads, fix it. Legislate for heavens sake, or have you forgotten how. I guess if it is not spending our money ........
You’re right that Trump rants when things don’t go his way, and then suddenly the shiny new toy that he so enjoyed playing with no longer looks so shiny and new and is cast aside. What a colossal screw up he made with Iran.
Congress doesn’t want to do anything because then an opponent running against them at next election cycle can use it against them. But, if they trusted their constituents they would know the majority support changing the law. So, maybe it is businesses that don’t support immigration and birthright change?
Darn near spilled my coffee on the keyboard, reading the first couple of sentences in this article. That's some skilled writing there ... grabs the reader's cerebellum and doesn't let go.
"Some of the post-liberal, progressive right, want a dictator." You are dead on with this statement, Erick. I saw this yesterday as Trumpers criticized the SCOTUS decision. The text of the Amendment is clear and excludes no person from birthright citizenship other than the children of diplomats. And yet, the Trumpkins make the nonsensical claim that "under the jurisdiction thereof" somehow excludes illegal aliens, despite the fact that thousands of them are sitting in American prisons right now, and that the concept of an "illegal alien" did not even exist when the 14th was ratified. Bottom line, Trump's disciples simply want the Court to be a rubber stamp for whatever Trump wants, constitutional or not. Indeed, they do want a dictator. But the scariest part is that Trump obviously wants to be one.
If only he’d share some of the wealth he and his sons have accumulated the past 18 months… GOP once again has wasted a mandate. Unfortunately, the Democrats have gone insane with their obsession of socialism, trans rights only, eco justice (we all must be like Europe and die of heat exposure or freeze to death - except for the govt leaders of course) immigration for all and government being involved in every area of our lives. We’re being governed by extremes with the leaders making bank and social media posts only. Maybe one day the electorate will wake up or maybe not.
You are correct, Un. The extremist Trumpkin side of the Republican Party and the extremist Democrat Socialist side of the Democratic Party are but different sides of the same populist coin. They both are at war with the "establishment" of their own parties as much as they are with the other side of the aisle.
I’m afraid the ends of the political horseshoe are going to join together (deliberately or through the law of unintended consequences) and get us that dictator.
AOC, MGT and Tucker Carlson all ready to be that dictator. They come together over their hatred of Israel, Jews and mainstream America while making millions off their duped supporters.
The very notion that a provision of the Constitution - the nation's foundational document - might be changed not by the process set forth for its amendment, nor even by legislation passed by the People's representatives in Congress, but by the decree of just one man, would be extreme in any country calling itself a democracy.
That is not what the Executive Order did. It did not change a provision of the Constitution. It was a directive to federal executive agencies that the Supreme Court found to conflict with the 14th Amendment. It was hardly "extreme".
Extremes show up in the primaries and nominate bad candidates as happened in GA with Walker and now Collins. If they win, they go to DC and make a show of doing something while getting nothing done at all.
Trump 1.0 was more effective than Trump 2.0. Nothing is extreme on what he ran on, but I wish he was more effective at getting it done. The IRGC and Qatar seem to have taken the wind out of his sails.
Dems need to focus on forcing the Socialists to run within their own party structure, not piggyback off the Democratic machinery which they despise anyway. Follow the advice of Carville, the crazy Cajun.
“Subject to the jurisdiction there of”.
When I was in the army I was stationed in Vietnam for a year and West Germany for fourteen months. I did visit Bangkok and Hong Kong on leave.
If I were a woman and had a child at any of these places, would the child be a citizen of any of these countries? No.
A legal resident is subject to the jurisdiction, not the illegal residents.
Now the Democrats want ballots in languages other than English. If you were made a citizen, you needed to read English.
Not true. If you are in a foreign country, legally or illegally, you are subject to the laws of that country, or “under the jurisdiction thereof.”
He forgot about “SOFA:” “Status Of Forces Agreement(s)” that deal with the relationships of Service Members overseas.
So, are we to believe that one comma changed the course of history?
Well, one guy was hanged by a comma.
Yes, indeed. Poor Sir Roger. Commas do matter...
Thank you for this sane piece. Compare this bit of intelligence to The Shrill, Ann Coulter, who considers the ruling national suicide.
Congress needs to legislate.
When reading Ann Coulter it is best to add an exclamation point to everything she says and pretend she’s auditioning for a comedy routine.
Nothing is ever set in stone. Other generations will change things.

Oh how I wish that C-word could be used to describe many people in positions of power.
Of course I mean “competence.” Where else would one’s mind go?
The incompetence gives people like KLB hope in GA.
Not a single person on the right wants a dictator. We need to go way back and teach reading skills, critical thinking, and context.
LOL.
And she shills for Dear Leader here, daily. She’s hilarious!

First paragraph scared me as I thought EE had gone all "gun control" on us and I was going to have to unsubscribe. lol.

This is true and it doesn’t bode well for our political future.
What is "extreme" about the Trump agenda?
The very notion that a provision of the Constitution - the nation's foundational document - might be changed not by the process set forth for its amendment, nor even by legislation passed by the People's representatives in Congress, but by the decree of just one man, would be extreme in any country calling itself a democracy.
Like Biden attempted to do via tweet on the ERA amendment.
What in the world are you talking about?

I was about to add summarily executing more than 200 people on the high seas that have not even been charged, much less convicted of any crime

Thank you.
Well, much of it is extremely unconstitutional. As SCOTUS has affirmed.
Not so. And, you still have not identified what is "extreme" about the Trump agenda.
You can the SCOTUS rulings against him on Google.
I'm not playing that game with you. If you cannot identify what parts of his agenda are "extreme", you should not make the claim.
Erick thank you for your reasoning and understanding of the Supreme Court’s decision. One word, “Outstanding!”
Now let’s get busy hounding our so called reps. I started yesterday but will continue today.
💯% true.

The Democrat Party has been the socialist party since the early 1970s. Today's party is just the natural evolution of that agenda.
