One of the first things you learn in law school is never to ask a witness a question you don’t know the answer to. The reason for this widely accepted rule is simple: winning prosecutors and defense attorneys understand that the jury needs to be told a story and having a witness go off script ruins your chances. The corollary rule in politics is that you never want to put a candidate in a situation that is outside of your control because this jeopardizes the winning story you are attempting to tell the voters.
The prosecution of Donald Trump was largely a Democratic operation that placed Joe Biden’s primary political opponent outside of the campaign’s control and into the hands of a judicial system that favors the defendant. Over the past 24 hours, Democrats have rapidly lost control of the race.
In Georgia, Donald Trump’s legal appeal to toss Fani Willis has been accepted by the Georgia Court of Appeals. In Florida, Judge Cannon has indefinitely paused the documents case against Trump. In Washington, Jack Smith’s January 6th case is rapidly heading towards getting tossed back to a court of appeals and kicked well past the elections in November.
Democrats have lost the plot. In their exuberance of implementing an “all of the above” approach to attacking Donald Trump, they may have just gotten him reelected. But there’s more. Watch:
The funny thing is that most of us knew how far out of bounds the democrats were going right from the get go.
