Having just read this, I am extremely late in comment, but I must.

This is one of the most powerful pieces you have ever written.

And this is why I follow you. There is no one out there like you. I wish everybody in the United States could read what you wrote today. You are leadership God bless you.

Again I am thankful to read what you have written (though personally I'd rather not see some of the expressions used like "ass.....ery", and some others, which obviously have some "shock value"). May the people who should be leading, become leaders and not followers. It seems to me that you are on target. All of this should move true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and His word to pray even more, and speak the truth in love. Psalm 2:10-12.

When I taught ROTC in the 80’s, I met a man who was a US Army Lieutenant during the Nuremberg trials. His men guarded the prisoners. Aside from some autographs, he had some 16mm reels of the concentration camps that he kept because it was no longer required after the trials. I have to say that my students and I saw the real thing when he told us about the holocaust. Many of those guys were hung because that was the worst way to die for the Germans. Herman Goring was not hung because he committed suicide by they believed hiding a cyanide pin in his naval. They deserved what they got. The holocaust was real and those who say it was not are liars.

A point to be made from my comment about the Nazi’s is we all should support hunting down Hamas and all the others who came across the border into Israel to do those terrible things. We should do what it takes to get rid of them. Our WWII fathers took care of the ones who built and ran the camps. We should support doing the same thing to Hamas and their followers who helped them

Thank you, Erick. So well put! This is a big problem, and I am horrified that so many people are taken in.

Brilliant analysis of threats to the conservative movement. Need to be read by everyone interested in Americas future. Otjher wise we could be doomed to be at the right wing version of the woke left.

I’ve been alarmed at how many conservative Christian friends of mine have become anti-semitic conspiracy theorists this past year. I don't know where it comes from.

Thanks, Erick for validating my decision not to watch those 10/7 videos. I don't need those visions in my head that I wouldn't be able to unsee.

I think this is what scares me the most out of everything that has been going on in the last decades, the idea that politics & power justify ignoring basic human morality, the ends justify the means. We cannot continue to allow this in the name of our side must win. Win at what cost? Do we truly want a generation of young people who believe in antisemitism, who think Hamas is only a political organization, that Hilter was not a murderer? We must call this out, and thank goodness Erick is willing to do this but we must confront it whenever we see it also. These people are not helping us succeed as conservatives anyway. I saw VP Vance and was not impressed with many of his answers but that was one of his worse. MTG is loyal Tucker promoter wish someone would run against her. As Dave below wrote we need to reclaim our moral backbone now!

My wife and I listened to Vance's speech and answers to the several questions posed to him. We did not find his responses offensive as we were not looking for something to criticize. My wife and I found his speech to the university population insightful and motivating. Sure there were things I wish he had said differently. I didn't like the answer about legal immigration at all but his challenge to each of them, to hold themselves, not others, accountable for the success of America was inspiring and important. I agree with Erick that we need to hold everyone accountable for their actions, regardless of party affiliation, but I also believe we should not continue to hold hearings ad infinitum looking for those responsible for past sins. Lawfare on both sides needs to stop. IMVHO the President of the United States should inform the nation that such behaviors by all political parties should end, admit wrong doing and state that both sides need to look carefully at themselves, embrace tolerance, respect each other, and practice forgiveness. He should ask for the suspension of all committees whose sole purpose is that of finding blame for the past and redirect us toward the future. He should challenge us all to work together to solve the many problems we face and ask that each of us to commit ourselves to making America a place where all views and voices are tolerated, freely debated, and after running their course each negotiated outcome accepted.

Wholeheartedly disagree. The left started this and now it's time to pay the piper. The info coming out regarding Arctic Frost is horrifying. It's obvious they were just fishing to find something they could charge as a crime. The judges approving this were complicit and should be removed from the bench.

Excellent and important piece overall Erick, but the one thing I think you get wrong is your premise that Kevin Roberts and Vance are doing this for tactical political reasons. Just like a lot of the rich Democrats who became Woke, they're True Believers--in Vance's case with a convert's passion. That's why I find him so dangerous.

Truly a great piece! So I missed the Vance response at Ol Miss. These guys seem to be playing conservatives -throw a bone here and there and presume we’ll miss the details. And I get it for the win, sometimes we must bend, but on the issue of Israel, and that excrement Hamas, we must not bend.

I sent this article to JD Vance.

Erick is right to sound the alarm. What we’re seeing in parts of the right today - the moral blindness toward Hamas, the blatant antisemitism, and the embrace of conspiracy and hate - echoes the danger William F. Buckley Jr. saw in the John Birch Society sixty years ago. Buckley had the courage to draw a line and say this is not conservatism. It saved the movement from being defined by its extremists.

We need that same clarity now. This new “Birch Society” may be dressed differently, but the same hatred and venom stain its clothing. Reasonable conservatives must name it, reject it, and reclaim the moral backbone that makes the right credible and worth defending.
