Facebook is Proof: Elections Have Consequences

When META announced they were hiring Joel Kaplan as head of policy, I knew they were serious about improving the platform for the better. But today’s news regarding content moderation is putting their words into action.

Facebook is scrapping its content restrictions around gender identity and immigration while moving its content moderation team from California to Texas. They have killed their third-party fact-checking program in favor of a Twitter-styled Community Notes model. If that wasn’t enough, they’ve brought on UFC’s Dana White to be a member of their board.
