I Screwed Up

This is what I get writing after midnight. I screwed up and want to apologize.

In my morning post, I referred to the COVID-19 coronavirus as “created in a lab in China.”

That was a terrible word choice on my part and I’m sorry I didn’t catch it in proofing and thanks to a friend for catching it for me.

To be clear: there is ZERO evidence this virus was created in a lab. I do not subscribe to that.

There are suggestions from people in government that the virus may have been accidentally released from that lab in Wuhan where it might have been studied. In fact, a number of credible people I have talked to now subscribe to this theory.

But none of them think it was grown in the lab or created by the Chinese, just that it was a virus from the wild being studied in a laboratory setting.

Even that is speculation on their part and mine. There is a lot we do not know about this virus.

But I don’t want to be complicit in pushing a conspiracy theory that this virus is “created in a lab.” That is wrong. I should not have written it. And I want to set the record straight on that.
