I Won't Be Moving From State Farm. This Time.
I am outraged that State Farm Insurance would fund the groomer project in Florida. If you missed the story, State Farm Insurance was, on behalf of a transgender advocacy organization, buying books to indoctrinate five-year-olds on transgenderism in the State of Florida. Only because of a whistleblower did State Farm abandon the project.
I am a State Farm Insurance customer. Our auto, home, and part of our life insurance are with State Farm. I have registered my complaints. I won’t be abandoning them though for a simple reason — State Farm agents nationally tend to be Republicans and conservatives. I’m not going to boycott them if I can help it.
Their corporate overlords seem to be well and truly in the nuthouse of Woke-o-Haram. But the agents, from the ground up, have a real ability to shape the culture. I don’t want to punish my agent by moving my business and costing him his livelihood, particularly since I know he is as outraged as I am and made sure to raise hell about it. Additionally, this was about the Florida office, not other State Farm offices.
If State Farm does something stupid like this again, I probably will have no choice. I do not want my money going to an entity that funds grooming projects. Corporations need to be on notice that if they’re going to get into the culture war on the left, those of us on the right are going to respond.
For now, however, I’m going to choose grace and forgiveness. I know a ton of State Farm agents. To a person, they’re conservative churchgoers. I’m not going to punish them, but trust them to apply appropriate pressure on the company. And the whistleblower will hopefully encourage other whistleblowers at other corporations to step up and call out corporate wokeness.
