I have noticed, with increasing alarm, a large number of prominent evangelicals who went silent after Dobbs v. Jackson’s Women Health came out. That case killed Roe v. Wade. While many evangelicals were vocal, some of the prominent ones were silent.
The same has held true with the advance of transgenderism in the country. A lot of prominent evangelicals, particularly female members of the church with platforms, have not spoken very loudly about the issue. As girls see boys come into their ranks, one might think that would provoke a response. But from some, it has not.
As these two acts of silence speak loudly, loud voices in the church who stand on the political right have been insisting it is a sin to vote for the Democratic Party because that party now openly advocates for abortion on demand and embraces genital mutilation. In fact, from President Biden to the “Reverend” Raphael Warnock to the Speaker of the House — all who wear their supposed Christianity on their sleeves — they are pretty adamant that life begins at some point about which they are uncertain and they cannot be guided by their faith in making a decision on when a child can live or die.
Stacey Abrams advanced the argument on national television the other day. She said abortion is not just a women’s healthcare issue, but an inflation issue. If you can’t afford groceries, you cannot afford a baby. The journalist Mike Barnacle had asked Abrams to move on from abortion to “kitchen table issues” and she went there. Barnacle did not follow up with the implication — if you cannot afford groceries so you cannot afford a baby, why must abortion end at birth? A child three weeks removed from the womb is just as helpless and dependent and even more costly compared to a child three minutes from being removed from the womb.
The Democratic Party, as well, has become comfortable with genital mutilation. One must be prohibited from sending their gay child to a camp that tries to make them straight, but one must be prohibited from prohibiting their children from engaging in genital mutilation. Parents must accept that their gay child is gay and be prohibited from trying to change them. But parents must also accept their boy is a girl and must be encouraged to change them. It is deeply contradictory madness and a the leadership of an entire political party is advancing this madness.
I’m hard pressed to think a Christian in good conscience can vote for a party whose leadership advocates such barbarism. But then I’m hard pressed to answer the Christian who points out the Republicans keep funding Planned Parenthood, the priests of Moloch. So the GOP is pro-life, but funds the sacrifice. Many Republican leaders too are opposed to restrictions on genital mutilation. The majority of the party in Congress is prepared to codify gay marriage.
This gets icky, sticky, and contradictory for those who want to deal with more than the partisan talking point. But then there’s another partisan point.
Where are the evangelicals who say you cannot vote for the party of abortion on this? We can all call out the prominent evangelicals for their silence on the end of Roe and their silence on the advance of transgenderism.
But many of the very same voices who will call out those prominent evangelicals for their silence are themselves silent at this happening on the right. This is heresy. If you pay attention to the graphic, the supposed prophet at the gathering says the Angel of Death will kill Republican Governor Brian Kemp before the end of the year. God himself will reinstate Donald Trump to the White House. Also, buy gold.
Every evangelical should condemn this heresy. Every evangelical should openly be talking about the anti-Biblical, anti-Christian stances being taken in Jesus’s name at these conferences on the right.
If you can only call out the other side, you aren’t being a Christian voice, but a partisan voice. And if you are going to use your witness as a partisan tool, it is going to become very hard for you to change people’s hearts and minds on the issues you care about when you can only hold the other side accountable and not your own.
The party of death is an abomination. But isn’t that also a group of partisans who believe the Angel of Death is coming to kill the partisans with whom they disagree?
Man o man you nailed it on this article. Speaking truth in a society that is a muddled mess. Awesome
I just returned from Greece and Turkey last evening. Greeks love their politics and boy do they talk. They don’t worry about the same things that we do. I don’t think they talk about abortion, transgenderism, they smoke cigarettes, stay up late, take siesta and sleep late. I found them extremely civilized and cultured. They love their drink and food. They can be found in Greek Orthodox service one moment and womanizing the next. I want to be more Greek. We have missed the boat in this country with so much hatred and division and anxiety. I’m not going to participate. My time in Greece and Turkey was exhilarating and embarrassing at the same time. Exhilarating for the freedom and love they have and embarrassing because of what the US has become and that we can play the charades of an incredibly demented public figure supposedly the leader of the free world. We get what we deserve. Europeans all over think our President is a fool. We put up with this is beyond anything coherent or morally rational. Europeans are certainly more cultured and civilized than we. They have a culture that is ancient. America is a grand experiment and I don’t worry one way or another. We are all the same. We are human and finite and mortal and none of this matters at all. Not one bit does it matter. Nothing new is under the sun.
