After leaving the White House, former President Trump moved to Florida. Having endorsed Ron DeSantis for Governor in 2018, Trump in 2022 said he would vote for DeSantis again.
Two weeks ago, Trump started a series of attacks against DeSantis that DeSantis had too aggressively locked down Florida. Trump complained that DeSantis had harmed Florida’s economy as a result. Never mind that it was local authorities who decided to close beaches in Florida, Trump attacked DeSantis for doing so and for shuttering schools. Remember, please, that when DeSantis reopened Florida schools while Trump was President, Trump criticized him for doing so.
Well, two weeks after attacking DeSantis for closing Florida, Trump is now attacking DeSantis for not closing Florida longer, killing people, and destroying Florida’s economy because of the death toll DeSantis supposedly inflicted on the state. Trump now believes the state he moved to after the presidency is one of the worst in the nation, nearly unlivable, and all the fault of the man he voted for in the gubernatorial race.
Is this dementia? Trump seems to have no memory of just two weeks ago attacking DeSantis for doing the exact opposite of what Trump is now attacking him for. Trump seems to have no memory that it was Trump who moved to Florida, a state he now declares is terrible.
If this were Biden, we’d be questioning if Grandpa Dementia’s memory was failing him again. Roughly the same age, perhaps we are now dealing with Dementia Don.
One more point — Trump is now endorsed by several Florida congressmen and women. Reporters should be putting microphones in their faces to see if those members of Congress agree with Trump’s assessment of their state.
I won’t hold my breath, however, because the only people who want Trump to get the GOP nomination more than Trump and his team are the political reporters and Democrats of America.
I don't believe it's dementia in Trump's case. I do however believe it is a case of the green-eyed monster. His ego is so enormous any fellow Republican threatening "his turf" is seen as disloyal and needing to be destroyed. And he's well aware that his true believers don't care about inconvenient facts. I voted for the man before in spite of his flaws but I can't imagine doing that in 2024.
No, this isn't dementia. This is that nasty personality that I didn't like in Trump in the first place. Biden is legitimately suffering from some sort of dementia. Nothing can stop Trump from running. But we can ignore his rants and vote for someone else in the primary. Like a toddler and a tantrum, not giving the attention, good or bad is sometimes best.
