Through Sarcastic Name Calling, Biden Admits He Knows the Democrats Are Toast
He did by being dismissive of Pete Doocey and, in his sarcasm, giving away the game.
During the Trump years, we all had our share of Jim Acosta, who rode the Trump outrage train to a show few watch on CNN weekends. Acosta repeatedly made himself the story during the Trump years. It was tiresome even to a number of Acosta’s colleagues.
Trump railed on Acosta and the non-Fox media made Acosta a protagonist of the Trump era with the press corps defending Acosta as if the First Amendment was at stake.
But it was actually Chuck Todd who Trump called a “son of a bitch” in 2017. And the press reacted as they had in defense of Acosta. To Chuck Todd’s credit, he really did not do a parade of victimhood down Pennsylvania Avenue. The rest of the media went nuts on his behalf, however. He is, after all, the anchor of “Meet the Press” and, you can hate me for saying this, an actually really nice guy. I like Chuck a lot even when we disagree on stuff. For the record, Chuck Todd never directly raised the issue after Trump said it.
Fast forward to yesterday. Joe Biden called Pete Doocey what Donald Trump called Chuck Todd.
The press corp reaction? Snickering. After all, Doocey works at Fox. It should be noted that Doocey, for his part, laughed it off on Fox instead of pulling a Jim Acosta. Like Chuck Todd, Doocey moved on to other stuff. The press corps should learn a thing or two about that.
The President called Doocey and apologized before the night was over as he should have. This is not really a story except to yet again expose the press corps’s own double standards.
But there was some real, actual news.
Overlooked is Biden’s handling of the matter in general. Here’s the transcript.
There are two ways to take this.
First, Biden thinks inflation is an asset and we need more inflation. We can be literalists on this and it is pretty damning for the President to say this. He actually did say it. That is the official transcript.
If you actually listen to his delivery, Biden sounds very sarcastic, which suggests he knows things are going badly for him and his political party. This is actually the biggest admission against interest that Biden knows the Democrats are screwed in November and it came as dismissive sarcasm to a reporter. In his actual press conference, Biden deflected on these issues. Here, however, as dismissive sarcasm, Biden knows just where things are headed. And now, most importantly, we all know he knows where this thing is headed.
He knows he is a lame duck caretaker for the next three years. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get us in a war to make himself important.
Biden didn't actually apologize. When you apologize, you take back what you said and use the very important words, "I am sorry" versus what Biden said, which was "Nothing personal, pal". Words matter, especially from the President. Biden's move toward civility was a campaign promise that, like his others, has gone unfulfilled. But more importantly, his and his administration's "surprise" over inflation belies their economic ignorance or arrogance. I'm not sure which one, but when you pour $1.9 trillion of spending into a $300 billion hole in demand, the inevitable result is inflation. Any Econ 101 student knows this and so should have the Biden regime, which means they are either dumber than they look or that their goal was inflation, in which case, why? Why would the Biden administration want inflation?
