Yes, the federal government has funneled millions of dollars to Politico, the Associated Press, Reuters, etc. But it is not hard to look online and see what the money went to pay for. These companies offer premium products, usually more in-depth reporting on topics, exclusives, legislative tracking databases, etc. The federal money went to pay for those premium accounts. The $8 million was from 2016 to the beginning of this year.
Again, you don’t have to believe me or The Dispatch. It’s documented in the federal database. Here’s a basic screenshot:
The E&E News subscription is this, from Politico. It is a subscription-based premium news product.
Nonetheless, if any Republican were using federal tax dollars to pay for premium Daily Wire accounts, etc., the very press outlets defending this would assail that.
It is very odd that, for example, the Department of Energy needed to pay Politico several hundred thousand dollars in a single year for premium accounts.
It also remains a potential conflict of interest, particularly because the Biden Administration increased the spending on these publications.
Marc Caputo is a former Politico reporter. He has said that Politico editors not only quashed a story about the Hunter Biden laptop but also directed reporters not to talk or tweet about it. Likewise, Politico buried and killed stories highlighting concerns about Biden’s cognitive condition.
When Biden’s Administration gives you millions of dollars, you have a financial interest in flattering and protecting him, right? Or is it only conservatives who get accused of such things?
We just went through multiple news cycles maligning Clarence Thomas for his friendship with a billionaire and potential conflicts of interest despite his friend having no business before the Court. But Team Biden is literally throwing millions of dollars at Politico, which is actively reporting on Biden. Just based on Politico’s own Clarence Thomas reporting, should we not be alarmed at the conflict of interest?
Oh, by the way, government bureaucrats at the State Department raised the American flag yesterday upside on the flag pole. Remember the press outrage over Sam Alito’s wife doing that?
Do the standards and outrage only work one way? You know the answer to that.
Also, it is absurd that government employees need to pay for premium press accounts to find out what is happening in the government.a
