We’re still in the Christmas season, so Merry Christmas again, but also Happy New Year.
Y’all know I have an inability to fully unplug. Well, God sometimes has a way of making me.
For Christmas, I got brand new PXG golf clubs. I went for a fitting right after Thanksgiving. For two and a half hours, I swung irons, wedges, putters, and drivers. I now have perfectly fitted clubs. Now you should know I am not a bad golfer. I am a terrible golfer. My handicap is measured in balls lost. I am awful. A friend told me he hit under 100. I hit under 100 on the first nine holes. I’m terrible.
But I do love to play.
On Tuesday, I went to the driving range. I helped my son with his swing and stood too close to him. He got me in the side of the head with the full force of his forward swing. He took a two-inch divot to my scalp. I am recovering from a concussion and related amnesia. I now remember, mostly, the incident. I don’t remember much thereafter, though it is slowly coming back. I actually remember I packed us up very quickly and drove us home. By the time I got home, my head and face were covered in blood. I remember thinking I could get us home because I really wasn’t bleeding at the time. That all changed. I got us home totally fine and coherent and then everything goes blank.
On Wednesday, I forgot much of the day, but it all came back. Brains are weird. I fully remember yesterday and today I feel very normal. I get to start driving again tomorrow. As for Gunnar, he is doing well. He is back to laughing and does want to go back to the course. We’ve all been more concerned about him. I asked him, “how are you” on Wednesday and he freaked out thinking I asked, “who are you?” Then we had a good laugh and he really does seem fine.
In any event, I’m going to go rest some more and I’ll be back in action on Monday. You guys have a great and happy New Year.
If on Monday you say you've "seen the light" and now support Sleepy Joe, we'll know there was some possible brain damage done...Seriously, tell your son it's not his fault, these things happen. He must feel terrible.
So glad it 'wasn't your time' yet!!! Get well so we can be more informed in 2022!!
