The Sunday Shows are a uniquely American phenomenon. They purport to highlight stories in American politics that are important to the average American. In reality, they focus on stories that matter to people in Washington.
The perfect example was this weekend’s slate of shows. From Meet The Press to Face The Nation, all of the Sunday shows were singularly focused on Liz Cheney and Donald Trump. While that matters deeply to everyone in DC, your average American voter is looking at a 401(k) that is down and prices that keep going up. Take a moment and let me explain what Republicans need to do.
I care. Soaring inflation, over-crowded schools, political polarization, and the further degradation of our once proud party are all concerns I am capable of discussing simultaneously. That all Cheney needed to do in order to win an election was lie about the integrity of our electoral systems is a stark fact that no amount of hand waving or what-aboutism will erase.
Cheney became obsessed with taking Trump out. She was a useful idiot for the Democrats and their Media. She lost touch with WY voters--which means she had tuned them out. Oh yeah--she "stood for principles!" By being part of a one-sided, anti-Trump kangaroo court. It takes no bravery to stand against Trump or even Conservatism in the public arena. The vast majority of Media and Big Tech are a massive cheer-leading section ready to welcome you with palm branches, and make you into a "hero".
