The great evangelist, Ravi Zacharias, has gone to his eternal home. This is the obituary by RZIM.
I must absolutely recommend these two books by Zacharias: The Real Face of Atheism and Jesus Among Other Gods.
Zacharias and I never met. We actually had plans to meet. He wanted to take my wife and me out to dinner. He listened to my radio show. Though we never did meet, I considered him a friend in a way. He was such an inspiration. He helped me make better arguments in discussions of faith and culture on television and radio.
Ravi Zacharias served the Lord faithfully. When faced with smear and slander, he turned the other cheek and carried on to the end. Even while undergoing treatment, he served as a witness for Christ.
He will be missed.
I was introduced to Ravi while in seminary. He has been an incredible influence on my ministry and even the way I communicate the gospel. A consummate gentleman who was given the wonderful gift of being able to communicate the Truth of God in an intelligent and winsome manner. Thank you Erick for posting this!
I did have the pleasure of meeting and talking with Ravi when he came and spoke for a weekend to college students at a convocation sponsored by Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis (my hometown). He was so kind, humbly gracious and softspoken. Yet he fielded the students' toughtest questions with patience and humor--he was disarming in every way.
His dear young friend and co-laborer, Nabeel Qureshi, (see "Forever Friends of Nabeel Qureshi" on Facebook) was no doubt right behind the Lord Himself, welcoming Ravi. What a great reward is his. I'm so sorry his brilliant mind and authoritative voice will be gone from us... ...for a while.
