It is not a coincidence that as faith fades from the West, particularly Christianity, the insanity we see running rampant in society has spread. Christianity is premised on the idea of absolute, universal truth. Jesus says He is truth. Post-modernism says we each have a truth, and there is no absolute truth. We each get to be our own Christ, hoisted upon our own cross, all of us victims of those around us but without the power to redeem — just offer grievance.
Genesis tells us God created us and uses a specific word for that creation that is reserved for the divine. Bara is the word. Only God can do it. Man can make the Tower of Babel. But God bara’d us male and female. We don’t get to do that. This is theology 101. We do not get to make ourselves male or female.
Science, too, is incompatible with the madness we see now. The other day, activists condemned the New York Times for, while giving sympathetic coverage to transgenderism, also playing it straight at times and allowing people to question it and point out trends in Europe where more and more nations are walking back from transgender advocacy.
This led the trans activists to accuse the New York Times of pushing pseudoscience. The pseudoscience being pushed by the Times is actual biological science.
As the trans advocates among the left have captured various institutions, they have used outlets like Scientific America and others to make bold claims about gender. Just three to five years ago, the trans community claimed male and female were sexes that were immutable while man and woman were genders that could be changed. Now, the sexes themselves are changeable, and it is all far more complicated than anyone without the gnostic knowledge of the trans community realizes.
Except, it is not so.
Every kid learns King Philip Came Over From Great Spain: kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. This is Biology 101. Domain precedes kingdom, but not everyone is taught that in Biology.
Among the kingdoms are plants, animals, fungi, and other multicellular living parts of creation.
Among the animal kingdom is the phylum Chordata, which has five characteristics, the two most common of which are a chord through the body and a tail (I’m simplifying a bit).
Within the Chordata phylum is the Mammalian class. That class of creature has mammary glands for producing milk, a neocortex in the brain, and a particular ear structure other creatures do not have.
The Primate order exists within the mammalian class. Primates have useful hands, sharp color vision, large brains, and a shoulder girdle.
Among the Primates is the hominid family. These are the great apes that walk upright, have lost their tails, and are omnivorous in their diets.
Within that family lies the genus Homo and within the genus Homo exists the last living species of that Genus, the sapiens.
This is Biology. What is notable about this is that there are species of animals that can swap sex over time. The transgender crowd points to the clownfish. The problem, of course, is that while the clownfish is also in the phylum Chordata, it breaks off into the Actinopterygii class of fish. Homo sapiens are not in the order, class, family, genus, or species anywhere close to that.
In the order, class, and family in which humans exist, there are distinct sexes, and the males cannot become the female.
The pseudoscience the transgender community wishes we embrace defies basic biology. They can spruce it up with big words and trans advocates writing in Scientific America, but it does not make it a reality, just propaganda inside captured institutions.
What the trans community and its supporters argue is that within Homo sapiens, there must be some sub-species that defies all of Biology. It is a sub-species that affects mostly white, mostly well-educated, mostly western, mostly atheist people from mostly broken homes or homes or environments of some abuse or mental pressure that converts from mental to physical.
After all, the odds of a poor Christian in Nigeria, or a middle-class Hindu in India, or a rich kid in a stable two-parent nuclear household in Korea becoming trans is pretty small. It is in Western countries where white kids with activist, secular parents in an environment of progressivism and, usually, bullying, abuse, or neglect, prompt a child to transition. It is a response to external pressures.
That suggests not a change in a species or a change in physical attributes but a mental issue.
In a post-modern age, where people get to claim their truth can triumph over real truth, this madness can fester and be fed by the society around it. But it is incompatible with science and theology.
Christendom made the West embrace rationality. As the pagan religions that embraced the sun crossing the sky on a chariot gave way to that one religion that claimed the sun was an object in the sky, people could search for an explanation for why the sun crossed the sky. That search, freed from the belief in gods, demigods, and nymphs, gave way to rationality and experimentation, free from fears of heresies and apostasies. It was not immediate but a gradual evolution.
As Christendom fades, we’re back to pseudoscience where males can become females, crystal shops are on the rise, and people are back to consulting their horoscopes and Ouiji boards.
The sapiens are the last species of the genus Homo. Erectus and neanderthalensis and habilis all went extinct. If we let the madness fester, a good portion of sapiens will sterilize themselves and go extinct too. The wildfire will eventually burn itself out. But how many will be consumed by the fire before it is out?
The Academy and the Church should be speaking truth into the madness. Sadly, too many are willing to be captured for fear of censorship or the desire for popularity. But transgenderism remains a lie and a madness not compatible with theological truth or scientific truth
.
Wow. You actually went there Erick. This is why I subscribe. The transgender theology is just one of many plagues of post-modernism that have become a religion; The "Climate Crisis; "Gun Violence Crisis"; The "Stolen Election" lies. We all have our own truth(s) these days, not The Truth (certainly not to be found on "Truth" Social).
Transgender-ism is a mental issue and should be treated that way, with compassion and caring. But I'm tired of having all this stuff shoved down my throat. "You will be made to care..."
Funny, I never heard that “king Philip” mnemonic until I heard you say it, but I’ve know the “Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order” list since learning it in HS I suppose in the 1960’s. I do remember Star types by “Oh be a fine girl, kiss me.”
Whenever I hear about a “Transgender” man or woman, I think “there’s no such thing.”
