Welcome! We have a Speaker. Maybe. Mike Johnson of Louisiana seems to have the votes. He’s from the party's conservative wing, but he’s not from the insane wing of the party.
Let Me Put This Here, Up Top For Everyone to See: Reporters are upset that Congressman Mike Johnson, the Speaker Designate, supported a legal strategy to overturn the 2020 election and cast doubts on the veracity of the results.
Meanwhile, the New York Times has hired a reporter who supported Hitler’s final solution. The Associated Press won’t call Hamas a “terrorist” group, and multiple news outlets have repeatedly pushed Hamas propaganda and talking points. After admitting they got the Gaza Hospital story wrong, today, the New York Times is even walking that back, arguing they can’t trust Israeli data on the explosion.
I disagreed with Johnson about the 2020 election and said so. But many of the reporters who are so vocal today about him haven’t said jack about the Times, the AP, the LA Times reporter who denied the decapitated babies and insisted Israel bombed the hospital, the Gaza hospital lie, and the list goes on and on.
If you’re unwilling to speak up about the latter and can’t shut up about the former, I have a hard time taking any of you seriously. And spare me the “I’m a Hill reporter” bs. Babies were decapitated, and your reporter colleagues claimed it was fake news. Women had their babies cut out of them before they were murdered, and your New York Times colleagues now share space with a man who cheers on Hitler. And you’ve said nothing.
When you pick and choose and stay silent about real evil, you can’t be trusted on all the other stuff. Also, spare me the “but he’ll be second in line to the presidency” stuff. You’ve got a dementia-addled serial liar in the presidency right now, and Willie Brown’s side-chick one step removed. Y’all have covered for both of them pretty aggressively. How many reboots does Kamala Harris get anyway?
