Sunday Sermon: The Lord's Brother Recognizes Him
One of my favorite books of scripture is the Book of Jude. In it, Jude, the Lord’s brother (some would say first cousin), writes that Jesus is Yahweh who led His people out of Egypt.
It is a profound statement in part because during Jesus’s life, Jude not only refused to recognize who Jesus was, but tried to stage an intervention for Jesus and refused to show up at Jesus’s execution.
After the resurrection, however, Jude and James, not the apostle, but Jesus’s brother, become leaders in the church. Each of them authored letters that became part of the New Testament.
This is just something to ponder for Christmas.
