I want to just spend a minute this morning and thank each of you reading this.
In August of 2019, I took a chance on starting up a morning radio show. I have a show already. My sole source of income is my day job, which remains hosting Atlanta’s Evening News on WSB Radio in Atlanta. But I wanted to do more and I really want to do national radio.
WSB’s management team decided they were okay with me doing it and in August of 2019, a week after our last Resurgent Gathering, I launched my show. This week, I added four more stations and am now beginning to pick up interest outside of Georgia for the show. In just over a year, we’re almost to twenty stations, which in talk radio is actually really rapid growth — particularly being a mostly one man band.
In February of last year, I started this email. You guys have helped me get this show off the ground. Instead of earning an income from writing this, I have taken every penny and reinvested it in growing my show and expanding the platform.
I could not have done it without you guys. On Good Friday and Christmas Eve and Christmas last year, I was able to take a syndicated radio program and use it to share the gospel for three hours. Though the GOP was not successful in the Georgia runoffs, I was able to connect Senators Perdue and Loeffler with every corner of the state to get their message out thanks to the radio show. You all made all that possible.
This week, I am the podcast interviewee for Michael Harrison with Talkers Magazine, the Bible of talk radio. I’m now preparing to expand my radio show and the timing of the interview was just providential.
That gets me back to all of you. I give a lot of content away, but have reserved exclusives and all my interviews just for subscribers. I have heard from some of you frustrated because you think I give too much away. I have yet to find the right balance. But I also want you to know how appreciative I am of your help.
Doing a three hour syndicated radio show, paying for the satellite, the board operator, the call screener, and everything else that goes into it was a total leap of faith. I picked up a couple of advertisers, but even then was struggling to use my own money to get the show off the ground.
Your subscriptions through substack have helped me take a passion and turn it into reality. I was telling a friend the other day that if I ever won the lottery, I’d just use that money to grow and refine my work product. I love what I do and am mindful that I could not do it but for you all.
So thank you. And, for those reading who are not subscribing, if you want exclusive content, interviews, and also to help as I now commit to growing further and expanding the platform, click the subscribe button below.
Erick, I have learned so much from listening to your show. I appreciate the lack of hysterical hyperbole and the consistent logic you bring to bear on so many issues, the fact that you will do what so many refuse to do, risk losing your listener base to speak the truth, and of course, the reminders of who is really in charge, and where our focus should really be, on our Lord Jesus Christ. God Bless You.
Over the past few months there were very few voices that I felt remained consistent in their constitutional conservatism. You are one of the few. I remember reading your “How the F and I the Sane One” and it resonated so much that I felt I had to support your work! You’ve kept me grounded in a time where I’ve felt increasingly politically unmoored. For a fiscal, constitutional conservative I am unsure where I fit in the two party system now. It feels like I’m on the outside. You have given voice to someone like me. Thank you for your hard work, consistency and joy in the Lord!
