Pete Buttigieg is spectacularly unaccomplished. He was the mayor of a midsize town and is now one of the leading candidates for Democrats ahead of 2024. This is a symptom of a larger problem for Democrats.
Great monologue by Erick. Buttigieg was a mediocre mayor of the 311th largest city in America. He governed 100,000 people. He is utterly inauthentic (almost as much as Kamala and Chelsea). His two claims to fame - and what make affluent white Democrats swoon - are, he is gay; and if he can be POTUS, any technocrat can be (that boosts the egos of these people for some reason). He has zero chance of energizing blacks or Hispanics or white working class folks. But he can compete in the primaries because there are enough hugely successful gays in tech and private equity. Erick hits this point also: Dems have a weak bench. The only name I thought he missed in his GOP list was Gov. Abbott of Texas, who had a shaky 2021, but has been great overall.
Most of Mayor Buttigieg's "accomplishments" as the Pothole King of South Bend were financed due to the development strategies implemented by the last two Republican governors of this state, Mitch Daniels and Mike Pence (yes, THAT Mike Pence). As the New York Post notes, Petey has been spectacularly incompetent as a small city mayor: https://nypost.com/2020/02/18/why-south-bend-residents-are-warning-america-about-pete-buttigieg/
That this man, who has had to ask for help to have the supply chain explained to him so he could be well informed whileignoring the disaster it's become, is even being considered in any way as viable 2024 Democrat Presidential material, is ample testimony as to the fact that having failed miserably at developing new talent at the state and local levels, the Democrats are now reduced to recycling more 70 somethings to replace the walking disaster area that is Joe Biden.
Hopefully, when the Republicans take control of both Houses of Congress next year, they'll just do what will benefit America, and force Biden into a series of vetoes, leaving Petey and the 70 somethings to defend the inaction.
