The Democrats' Favorite Republican
Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced that she is following through on a weeks-long threat to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson. Despite being advised by Donald Trump and his hand-appointed pick for the RNC against doing so, Marjorie announced that she is filling the motion next week.
Many on the right have cheered this decision pointing to the fact that Johnson capitulated on funding Ukraine. Lauren Boebert went so far as to say that she didnt care if Marjorie Taylor Greene’s motion passed because Mike Johnson serving as Speaker is no different than Hakeem Jeffries. In fact, I would imagine that many in my radio audience feel the same way.
As tempting as it may be to sympathize with this sentiment, it is simply devoid of facts. In a week when Democrats are panicked that woke college kids burning down universities are turning moderate voters away from them, MTG handed them a lifeline by changing the narrative to the disfunctional Republicans. This is a gift more effective for the Democrats than any amount of money could be.
Now that Republicans control the House with a one-seat majority, this stunt from Marjorie hurts the prospect of Republicans growing their majority in November and increasingly risks the potential for a Speaker Hakeem Jeffries. People Lauren Boebert miss one big reason why this still matters: Reconciliation. Let me explain:
We've had the Gang of Eight, The Squad and now we have the Three Stooges led by the vapid and self absorbed Marjorie Taylor Greene. She even got herself a 3 letter acronym just like her mentor AOC.
I wish our folks in northwest Georgia would figure out that she is only there for herself and her "brand" and not to represent them. Vote her out in the next election and replace her with someone who is smart and represents her district and her country. Even the orange man is keeping his distance.
