The Great Divide Gets Worse

American society is rapidly reaching a point of irreversible division. When the Roman Empire was in constant upheaval, the Roman bureaucracy continued to operate to keep ports open, aqueducts flowing, and taxes collected. In the United States, not only is our sense of justice now divided along tribal lines, increasingly, our bureaucracy is picking sides — inevitably with progressives weaponizing the bureaucracy against the right. The latest is the Internal Revenue Service. As progressives prepare a wealth tax, someone at the IRS leaked the tax data on the wealthiest 400 Americans. Their private tax filings are now on display at a left-leaning news site and the reaction from the left and press is to yawn and claim it is for the greater good. But these actions will erode American trust even further against the institutions that support the nation. Left that way, we will reach the breaking point.
