I am broadcasting my radio show live from KRMG in Tulsa, Oklahoma right now before I meet a few hundred listeners tonight at an event. However, I asked Philip to push out this video from Monday because this is the most important non-election news item of the week… and maybe this year.
Chinese hackers have gained access to the backend surveillance and wiretapping system that American telecom companies built for the federal government following 9/11. They are reading the texts and eavesdropping on the calls of millions of Americans including some of the most powerful business and political leaders in our country. In short, the Chinese are actively spying on you and the US government has no idea how to make them stop. Seriously, you need to watch this:
We need an absolute firewall blocking internet access from China, Iran, Russia and North Korea. We need to decouple the global economy from any and all of them. It needs to be done yesterday.
American telecom companies built for the federal government...
Who was responsible for the access security and data protection?
Being able to read text messages as they come in to the telecom is one thing.
"Chinese hackers have gained access to the backend surveillance and wiretapping system..."
This tells me the telecoms copy the data to a database where the federal government can access it. The Chinese appear have access to the database.
That access should be for Constitutional reasons very restricted and the data should be encrypted at rest and in transit.
My #1 pet peeve when I hear about a data breach is the data wasn't encrypted at rest. Ridiculous and unacceptable.
