Clip of the day: Following Ian from the beginning.
This is what a 15-foot storm surge looks like:
Ian Cleanup
The rain from Hurricane Ian has been deemed a 1 in 1,000-year flood with 2.5 million without power and a growing number of confirmed casualties. Here’s what DeSantis said:
“We’ve never seen storm surge of this magnitude, and it hit an area where there’s a lot of people and a lot of those low-lying areas, and it’s going to end up doing extensive damage to a lot of people’s homes. So there’s going to be a lot of work to do.”

Putin’s Land Grab
Vladimir Putin officially signed a treaty to annex four portions of Ukraine earlier today following what is widely considered to be a sham election. The land grab of 38,600 square miles is the largest of its kind since World War 2 and roughly equals one-fifth of Ukraine. In response, the Biden administration issued fresh sanctions on newly created Russian companies that help Russian military suppliers evade existing sanctions.
Biden Backtracks On Student Loans
From The New York Post:
The Biden administration is pulling back on its student debt relief program amid numerous legal challenges, including six new lawsuits filed by Republican-led states.
In a reversal from Biden’s original sweeping proposal in August to cancel federal student loans up to $20,000, the US Department of Education announced Thursday that it would not forgive debt from borrowers whose student loans are owned by private entities.
Politico has more, here.
Inflation Is Worse Than We Thought
The Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge shows inflation jumped more than expected in August. Core inflation rose 0.6% month-over-month and 4.9% from a year ago.

This is astounding stuff. Thank-you for exposing us to this horrifying mindset, Erick!
In the business world we have laws preventing anti-Israel boycott business practices that some nations and activist groups seek to use as leverage to do business. I find it fascinating (disheartening?) that a Law School, filled with all kinds of students (including those aspiring to become part of ACLU for whatever reason) would not confront the overt discriminatory racist rhetoric that is actually becoming policy.
I s'pose maybe this is aimed specifically at Ben Shapiro, who is certainly not popular in the elitist lawyer class...
