More Biden Docs

Five additional classified documents were discovered in Biden’s private residence over the weekend. Biden aides discovered the third batch of classified records in a room adjacent to the garage at the President’s home in Wilmington, Deleware.

What happened: On Wednesday of last week, the Biden team said the search for additional documents had concluded after the initial batch of documents was discovered in the garage. When pressed about it Karine Jean-Pierre, “you should assume that it’s been completed.” It was not. On Thursday, Biden’s private attorneys found one additional classified document and had to stop searching because they lacked the security clearance required to view the document. However, they claimed the search was complete. Again, it was not. Later on Thursday, a White Hosue attorney and DOJ officials found the third batch of five additional classified documents.

Democrats are furious: Democrats are understandably frustrated at the steady drip of new classified documents that has breathed life into a divided Republican Party. Politico reports that in light of the Mar-a-Lago document situation, Democrats want to know why the Biden search wasn’t done sooner and more thoroughly.

Everyone Not Named Ron DeSantis

Josh Kraushaar at Axios says Republicans considering a run for president are currently paralyzed by Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump.

"Everyone not named DeSantis is having a hard time figuring out their way around him. So they are waiting for him to screw up or fade," said Republican strategist Scott Jennings. "So far, he's doing neither."

On Trump:

"No one wants to take slings and arrows from Trump," said another adviser to a top 2024 contender. "Whether they get in early or late isn't going to matter if they have a built-in network of donors."

The Mental Health Crisis Among U.S. Teens

Three decades ago, the gravest public health threats to teenagers in the United States came from binge drinking, drunken driving, teenage pregnancy and smoking. These have since fallen sharply, replaced by a new public health concern: soaring rates of mental health disorders.

In 2019, 13 percent of adolescents reported having a major depressive episode, a 60 percent increase from 2007. Emergency room visits by children and adolescents in that period also rose sharply for anxiety, mood disorders and self-harm. And for people ages 10 to 24, suicide rates, stable from 2000 to 2007, leaped nearly 60 percent by 2018, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
