Ben Sasse - Florida Man
Senator Ben Sasse is leaving the United States Senate to become the 13th President of the University of Florida. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ chief of staff guided Sasse through the process after expressing interest in the job months ago. The University of Florida Presidential Search Committee has unanimously recommended him as their sole finalist.
Sasse’s Senate replacement will be picked by Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts who himself is considered by many to be a leading contender. Full story here.
Nuclear Armageddon
Joe Biden flippantly discussed nuclear armageddon at a political fundraiser hosted by James Murdoch, son of Fox Corp. Chair Rupert Murdoch. Biden claimed the world is closer to nuclear armageddon than at any point since the Cold War. Full story here.
Even The New York Times was startled by Biden’s comments: “Mr. Biden’s references to Armageddon were highly unusual for any American president. Since the Cuban Missile Crisis, 60 years ago this month, occupants of the Oval Office have rarely spoken in such grim tones about the possible use of nuclear weapons, much less talked openly about off ramps.”

Prosecuting Hunter Biden?
This is from CNN:
Federal prosecutors believe they could charge Hunter Biden with tax crimes and a false statement but a final decision still has not yet been made by the US attorney in Delaware, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The case against Biden narrowed earlier this year, and was a matter of discussion in early summer between FBI and IRS investigators, prosecutors in Delaware and the Justice Department, CNN previously reported. The discussions included assessing the strength of the case and questioning whether more work was needed before deciding on charges, according to sources who spoke to CNN in July.
Prosecutors have not yet made any charging decisions on the case and have not met since early summer to discuss the federal investigation, according to two sources familiar with the matter. A decision is not expected before the midterm election.
