Israel & Biden
Nearly four months to the day after Hamas invaded Israel on October 7th, the Israeli government has confirmed that 32 of the remaining 136 hostages held in Gaza have died. The news comes as Secretary of State Antony Blinken makes his fifth trip to the Middle East visiting Egypt and Qatar in hopes of preventing unrest from spreading across the region.
Biden: The Biden administration threatened to veto the House’s stand-alone bill that would send $17.6 billion to Israel as Biden continues to struggle with young voters and progressives ahead of the November election. Progressive advocates and lawmakers told The Wall Street Journal they believe Biden is taking their vote for granted and claims he must do more on climate, Gaza, and immigration. A recent NBC poll supported this claiming only 15% of voters under 35 approved of Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
Economy: Broader problems for Biden were highlighted in a CNBC poll that claims only 17% of 18-34-year-olds believe the economy is “good” while only 61% were not saving for retirement every month. A separate report from The New York Fed claimed that credit card delinquencies surged more than 50% in 2023.
Gaffe: Biden recounted yesterday a recent meeting he had with “Mitterand from Germany” (who was really from France) and more importantly… died in 1996.
Wall Street Snubs China for India in a Historic Markets Shift
A momentous shift is under way in global markets as investors pull billions of dollars from China’s sputtering economy, two decades after betting on the country as the world’s biggest growth story.
Much of that cash is now heading for India, with Wall Street giants like Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley endorsing the South Asian nation as the prime investment destination for the next decade.
That momentum is triggering a gold rush. The $62 billion hedge fund Marshall Wace has positioned India as its biggest net long bet after the US in its flagship hedge fund. An arm of Zurich-based Vontobel Holding AG has made the country its top emerging-market holding and Janus Henderson Group Plc is exploring fund-house acquisitions. Even Japan’s traditionally conservative retail investors are embracing India and paring exposure to China.

Biden’s Support From Progressives at Risk Over Border Bill and Israel
Four years ago, when President Biden clinched the Democratic nomination, he aggressively courted progressives, forming an alliance that helped propel him to the White House and has largely stayed intact. Now, deep cracks between him and the left are emerging that threaten his chances of re-election in 2024.
The president’s handling of the war in Gaza has strained his relationship with progressives over the last three months. His push for a bipartisan plan that would severely restrict migration at the southern border has further jeopardized his standing with the constituency, which includes young voters and minority voters.
The Biden team is counting on the president’s ability to reassemble the 2020 coalition, meaning he needs to maintain his level of backing from progressives. For some on the left, however, the extent of his support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas and his recent backing of the border-policy overhaul, including his push for restricting asylum in a way that breaks a core campaign promise, might be too much to overcome.
Several progressive advocates and lawmakers say they feel the president is now taking them for granted.

I wish that meant only 15% of voters under 35 are idiots, but I thibk the percentage is higher.
Dangerous’ aftereffects linked to using mixed reality headsets...
No one walks around with a headband magnifier, or leather gloves, or a lifejacket. These are tools for a specific purpose, not everyday all day wear.
If mixed reality headsets are being marketed as something to be worn all day everyday that is just stupid.
I certainly see applications, but limited use cases for a specific purpose like any other tool.
