Democrats Ditch Kamala
More than a dozen Democratic leaders told The Washington Post (paywall) they are worried at the prospects of Kamala Harris leading the Democratic Party. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, this wide-ranging group largely pointed to Kamala’s stumbles on the campaign trail, lack of visibility, and poor political instinct.
Harris’s critics also question her basic political skills on the national stage. In 2016, she won her Senate seat against weak opposition, they say. In 2019, her presidential run ended before a single ballot was cast, doomed by an uneven performance on the campaign trail, weak support, faltering resources and turmoil among her advisers.
This group of Democrats said they were concerned about Harris’s gaffe proneness like in this interview with Lester Holt:
Atlanta 2024?
A growing number of Democrats are pushing for the Democratic National Convention to be held in Atlanta in 2024.
Why this matters: Just two years ago, Democrats claimed that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp's voter law would suppress black voters’ ability to participate in elections. Joe Biden went so far as to deem the law “Jim Crow in the 21st Century.” Major League Baseball was so incensed over the law that they pulled the All-Star game from Atlanta.
What happened: Record voting occurred - particularly among minorities - in the primary and general elections in Georgia on both sides of the aisle. Additionally, zero percent of black voters reported a bad voting experience in a University of Georgia poll.
Beyond Objectivity
A Washington Post (paywall) opinion piece makes the case that newsrooms should “move beyond objectivity” to earn the trust of readers. Seriously, you can’t make this up:
More and more journalists of color and younger White reporters, including LGBTQ+ people, in increasingly diverse newsrooms believe that the concept of objectivity has prevented truly accurate reporting informed by their own backgrounds, experiences and points of view.

"How could it be that Georgia was too racist to host the 2021 Major League Baseball All-Star game but is not too racist to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention?"

Both have "Never Been to Spain."
