Clip of the day:
FTX
The crypto company that ran Super Bowl commercials with Matt Damon and Larry David and sponsored the Miami Heat’s stadium has collapsed in spectacular fashion. FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried could face criminal prosecution from the Manhattan U.S. attorney according to multiple sources.
What happened: FTX loaned $10 billion in customer funds to a risky venture from a sister company owned by CEO Bankman-Fried without customer consent. A sizable portion of that money is now missing. The Bahamian company filed for bankruptcy after customers were unable to withdraw money from their accounts. As best we can tell, FTX drastically underestimated the amount of cash on hand needed if a high volume of customers decided to pull their money out.
Bonus: Sam Bankman-Fried was the second-largest donor to the Democratic Party spending $50 million this cycle.

Minority Voters
Black and Hispanic voters continue to be on a slow march to the Republican Party according to new exit polling from Edison Research. This is from Politico:
But compared to the 2018 midterms, Hispanic and Asian support for the GOP jumped 10 and 17 points respectively, while Black voters shifted about 4 points to the right. When contrasted with 2020 — a presidential election year fueled by a push to remove former President Donald Trump from office — the movement in favor of Republicans is in the single digits.
GOP Leadership
Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell are in a less than enviable position in their post-midterm fight to remain at the helm of their respective chambers. The lackluster midterm performance has raised the level of scrutiny each leader has faced in their intra-party leadership reelection bids.
House: Kevin McCarthy is working hard to shore up votes from the House Freedom Caucus and other hardline congressmen in order to become Speaker of the House. McCarthy has almost no room for error as Republicans will likely have a single-digit seat majority.
Senate: McConnell is in a marginally better position with no formal challenger named but a growing number of senators demanding leadership votes be put off until after the December 6th Georgia runoff. The leadership vote is scheduled for Wednesday and an “air clearing” closed-door meeting is scheduled for tomorrow.
