Natural Gas Booms
The price of natural gas in the United States just hit a 14-year high off of fresh concerns over a total shutdown in Europe. Unscheduled maintenance is being performed on the Nord Stream 1 pipeline which pumps gas from Russia to Europe. European gas prices jumped 19% on Monday alone. To make matters worse, Citi warns that British inflation could hit 18% in the coming year.
To make matters EVEN MORE HORRIBLY WORSE Germany has decided to proceed with the closing of its three remaining nuclear power plants according to Reuters. Germany had paused its closure plans due to the energy crisis but now has recommitted to closing the plants.
NBC Poll
A new bipartisan poll has mixed news for Republicans and Democrats. This is from NBC
57% of registered voters say that the investigations into alleged wrongdoing by Trump should continue.
42% of registered voters approve of Biden’s job performance and 55% disapprove.
Biden’s approval rating is highest among Democrats (79%), Black voters (68%), urban residents (50%) and women (47%).
Biden’s approval rating is lowest among Latinos (40%), men (36%), those 18-34 (36%), rural residents (21%) and Republicans (7%).
40% approve of Biden’s handling of the economy.
47% of registered voters prefer Republicans winning control of Congress, while 45% want Democrats in charge.
Three-quarters of voters saying the county is headed in the wrong direction.
