Israel

Hamas and Hezbollah are working closely together to coordinate their next steps in the fight against Israel according to sources at Politico. If Israel launches a ground invasion in Gaza to fight Hamas, which is not a guarantee, this will drastically increase the odds of Iran-directed Hezbollah invading Israel from the northern Lebanese border.

Biden: When discussing the failed Hamas rocket that detonated in a hospital parking lot, Joe Biden said terrorists have “gotta learn how to shoot straight.”

Aid: The United States and Israel secured a deal with Egypt that will allow 20 truckloads of humanitarian aid to be distributed inside Gaza after the damaged Rafah Crossing is repaired on Saturday. The humanitarian crisis continues to devolve as a growing number of Palestinians converge on the southern end of the Gaza Strip.

Tonight: Biden is expected to make a speech from the Oval Office tonight that will formally request $100 billion in wartime funding from Congress for continued support of Israel and Ukraine while also funding Taiwan and the southern border.

Capitol Hill: 300+ pro-Hamas protesters were arrested in the rotunda of the Cannon House Office Building yesterday afternoon. Joining the protesters was Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib who has refused to apologize for her factually inaccurate claim that Israel bombed a hospital in Gaza killing 500 people. Notably, no leading Democrat has demanded she apologize. Earlier yesterday, Tlaib said she was "ashamed" of her colleagues who stand with Israel.

Speakerless House

BREAKING: Jim Jordan will not seek a third ballot for Speaker of the House and will instead back Patrick McHenry as interim speaker through the end of the year.

What happened: Tensions over two failed votes for Speaker of the House reached a fever pitch yesterday when allies of Jim Jordan ratcheted up the threats to GOP colleagues who opposed Jordan.

Details: The 20 GOP holdouts on Tuesday’s first ballot grew to 22 holdouts on Wednesday’s second ballot as some members claimed to have received threats - including death threats - from allies of Jim Jordan.

• Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks received “credible death threats and a barrage of threatening calls” after voting for Jordan on the first ballot, but not the second.

• Rep. Don Bacon polished threatening text messages his wife received from an unknown number after Bacon refused to vote for Jordan.

• Rep. Carlos Gimenez’s home district was flooded with robocalls telling constituents to call his office.
