Clip of the day:
Herschel Walker
What happened: The Daily Beast claims that Herschel Walker paid for a girlfriend to have an abortion in 2009. The outlet claims the girlfriend has receipts and a âget wellâ card from Walker but requested anonymity. The Walker team vehemently denies the allegations and claims they will sue The Daily Beast for defamation.
More: After the story was published, Christian Walker (Herschelâs son) tweeted this:
My take: This is not good. Herschelâs chances of winning the seat come down to his ability to effectively push back on these claims in the next 48-72 hours. Read my full take here.
Senate Shifts Towards Republicans
The race to control the Senate has shifted in the direction of Republicans by an average of three points in post-Labor Day polls of pivotal Senate battleground states. The New York Times says the shift is real in two states in particular: Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The problem: If Republicans only win Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, they wonât gain any new seats in their quest to control the 50-50 Senate. Republicans would need to beat a Democrat in Georgia (less likely today), Arizona, or Nevada in order to gain seats. Adam Laxalt in Nevada appears to be the Republicansâ best bet (paywall).
North Korea Gets Bold
This is from CNN:
North Korea fired a ballistic missile without warning over Japan on Tuesday for the first time in five years, a highly provocative and reckless act that marks a significant escalation in its weapons testing program.
The missile traveled over northern Japan early in the morning, and is believed to have landed in the Pacific Ocean. The last time North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan was in 2017.
This marks North Koreaâs 23rd missile launch this year, including the most ballistic missiles fired in a single year since leader Kim Jong Un took power in 2012. By comparison, Pyongyang conducted four tests in 2020 and eight in 2021.

Erick,
I appreciate you focusing on Georgia's senate race today. I hope it hasn't turned off some of your more national listeners. I also agree with the comment below about the timing of the allegation. Of course this will lead the national news tonight because of media bias. I hope the dumb masses of voters start to see through the bias some, but I doubt it. What's the next October surprise?
