Hunter Biden
The New York Times confirmed the claims of two IRS whistleblowers that came forward last week asserting that David Weiss - the Trump-holdover US Attorney investigating Hunter Biden - was blocked from bringing substantive charges against the younger Biden in Washington and California.
What happened: David Weiss reached out to prosecutors in the Central District of California and Washington, DC to investigate tax fraud that was allegedly perpetrated by Hunter Biden. Both districts rejected his request.
Why this matters: The assertion from The Times puts at odds statements from Attorney General Merrick Garland who told Sen. Chuck Grassley at a hearing in March that David Weiss had full authority to investigate Hunter Biden.
Speaker McCarthy: “If it comes true what the I.R.S. whistle-blower is saying, we’re going to start impeachment inquiries on the attorney general (Merrick Garland).”
If this was not bad enough, Democrats are furious at Hunter Biden’s plethora of public appearances since landing his jail-free plea deal. Hunter Biden was spotted making the rounds at a US state dinner last week for the Indian Prime Minister that was also attended by Merrick Garland. The New York Times put it best claiming Garland would “rather cut off a thumb than be caught looking chummy with the target of an investigation that he had guaranteed would be conducted by the book.”
Regardless, Democrats privately view Hunter Biden’s multitude of public appearances as unnecessary amidst a growing body of evidence suggesting the prosecutor in his case was precluded from doing his job.
Descendants of Slave Owners
Reuters published a story claiming “100 U.S. leaders – lawmakers, presidents, governors, and justices” are direct descendants of slave owners. The best part: The only living US President to not be the direct descendent of a slave owner is… Donald Trump. Here’s the story.
Bidenomics
The White House is planning to make “Bidenomics” a key piece of the President’s reelection message to convince leery voters in battleground states to support the 80-year-old President in 2024.
Explained: In short, Biden's message will be that his interventionalist approach of spending billions of dollars to pass an infrastructure deal, green energy initiatives and a semiconductor package has produced red-hot growth in the jobs market.
The problem: As The Wall Street Journal correctly points out, the same Keynesian “Bidennomics” that created a jobs boom resulted in surging inflation that effectively canceled out the economic impact of the new jobs. As inflation remains stubbornly persistent, the Federal Reserve will likely be forced to continue its tightening policy in an attempt to cool inflation by stifling the labor market. In short, Bidennomics can’t work long-term.
What Russia Knew
The Wagner Group’s Yevgeny Prigozhin planned on capturing two high-ranking Russian officials in his failed attempt to stage a coup over the weekend. Prigozhin was informed that someone in his orbit had leaked his plans to the FSB and was forced to launch his attack prematurely.
OH? US intelligence told The New York Times that a senior Russian general who helped orchestrate the invasion of Ukraine had advanced knowledge of the attack and may have helped Prigozhin plan it. Unsurprising, that guy is now missing as interrogation rumors mount.
Putin: Vladimir Putin announced that Wagner’s troops who are stationed across Africa and the Middle East will now be controlled by the Kremlin. A Putin official first flew to Syria yesterday to inform President Bashar al-Assad that the mercenary forces would no longer operate independently and would now only take orders from Russia. It is estimated that Wagner employs 30,000 fighters.

I have assumed for a long time that every human on earth is descended from both slave owners and slaves. Do you have any idea how many ancestors you have when you go back millennia? That article is attempting to somehow make people feel guilty.
