Hurricane Ian update: A Florida Sherrif said, "we have fatalities in the hundreds" after Hurricane Ian made landfall just 2 mph shy of a Category 5 storm in the Fort Myers area. 2.5 million Florida residents are without power.

NEW: Ian is intensifying and is expected to become a hurricane again.

Well, Rep. Jackie Walorski died two months ago in a horrible auto accident. The White House Press Secretary was left to play clean up and it did not go well. Watch:

Markets Tank

Fewer people out of work have sent markets plummeting this morning. The report signals that Jerome Powell and the Federal Reserve will continue hiking rates to cool off the economy in an attempt to tame runaway inflation. Last week’s jobless claims report saw less unemployment than seen in the previous five months.

Three Shocking Stories on Russia

ONE: A sham referendum election passed annexing four regions of eastern Ukraine to the Russian Federation. Vladimir Putin will deliver a speech on Friday to make the announcement official. The four regions comprise 18% of Ukraine and give Putin a much-needed win.

TWO: The annexation announcement comes as multiple news outlets report that Russia’s draft dodging problem is worse than previously thought. Reports vary but Bloomberg claims 200,000 Russian men have fled to Georgia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Finland, creating massive traffic problems at the border. This is greater than the total number of soldiers that invaded Ukraine at the beginning of the way.

THREE: A Russian soldier broke orders and called his girlfriend from Kyiv back in March. The call was intercepted by the Ukrainian military and the message was disturbing. The soldier, Sergey, claims the Russian commanders told them to “kill everyone we see.” Here’s an expert from BI:

"They told us that, where we're going, there's a lot of civilians walking around. And they gave us the order to kill everyone we see," Sergey said, according to The Times.

His girlfriend responded: "Why the fuck?"

"Because they might give away our positions. ... That's what we're fucking going to do, it seems," Sergey replied, per the report. "Kill any civilian that walks by and drag them into the forest. ... I've already become a murderer. that's why I don't want to kill any more people, especially ones I will have to look in the eyes."
