Kamala Harris supported taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for people in jail.

China

Seal Team Six, the elite special forces unit that killed Osama Bin Laden in 2011 and rescued Captain Phillips in 2009, has been quietly training for a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.

While few details are known about the clandestine training operations, the news suggests that 1) a Chinese invasion is significantly more likely than previously thought and 2) the military coordination between the United States and Taiwan is significantly greater than previously thought.

CIA director Bill Burns told The Financial Times last week that 20% of his budget is dedicated to handling the growing threat of China. This is a 200% increase from just three years ago.

“MS-13 on steroids”

A violent Venezuelan gang known for dismembering rivals across South and Central America has crossed the southern border and is operating inside the United States.

Details: Organized from a Venezuelan jail, members of Tren de Aragua fled Venezuela with millions of other refugees when Nicholas Maduro ran the domestic economy into the ground. Since migrating north into the United States, Tren de Aragua has been responsible for violent crimes in Miami, New York, Texas, and Chicago.

Context: While Tren de Aragua may not be a household name, officials describe it as “MS-13 on steroids” with well-established drug distribution networks, extortion rackets, and prostitution rings. “I think the Tren de Aragua in the U.S. could help elect Trump,” said a senior fellow at the Inter-American Dialogue think tank in Washington.

Africa

As Islamic militants have continued to surge across Western Africa, the United States is quietly moving aircraft and commandos into the region to fight the emerging threat.

Context: The news comes as the United States was recently evicted from its airbase in Niger when the country’s military staged a coup to reclaim control of the democratically elected government. Less than a year after taking over, the military-led government formally evicted the US from its newly constructed $110 million military base. “Losing Niger means that we’ve lost our ability to directly influence counterterrorism and counterinsurgency in the Sahel,” said retired Maj. Gen. Mark Hicks.
