🚨 Clip of the day: Two additional sitting congressional Democrats cast doubt on Biden’s 2024 prospects.
Sad:
What about Kansas?
Voters in Kansas surprisingly rejected a ballot measure that would have given state legislators the ability to ban or restrict abortion in the state. The measure failed by a shocking margin of 20%.
The rest of the story: Speculation has mounted overnight that the ballot measure failed because of the wording of the question. Take a look:
Democrat’s Open Seat Problem
Joe Biden won Colorado’s 7th district by 13 points in 2020. Now, polling has the Republican and Democrat vying for the open congressional seat within the margin of error. This is from Politico:
Republicans have long hoped Biden’s plummeting popularity would bring deep blue territory into play for them — and this is one sign that could be true. His approval rating in the poll was underwater by 23 points at 36/59, a concerning margin for a seat he carried so easily two years ago.
OPEC+ Ignores Biden
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries announced a negligible increase in the number of barrels of oil the coalition (cartel) is willing to produce. This headline from Reuters (paywall) says it all:
HEADLINE: OPEC+ approves tiny oil output rise in rebuff to Biden
So what? The news comes on the back of Biden’s trip to Saudi Arabia where he begged Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to produce more oil. The increase of 100k barrels per day is the second lowest increase in history. Javier Blas has the explanation.
Democrats Elect Radical Republicans?
Democrats intervened in the Michigan’s third congressional primary race by supporting John Gibbs, a far-right Repulbican against Peter Meijer, a center-right incumbent who voted to impeach Donald Trump. Gibbs narrowly defeated Meijer last night. Here are two good takes from two guys at opposite ends of the political spectrum.
