Bragg vs Jordan
The Manhattan District Attorney who instigated the legal case against Donald Trump announced he is suing House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan for allegedly impeding the Trump investigation.
What happened: Jim Jordan’s House Judiciary is investigating whether the Trump indictment was politically motivated and is subpoenaing a former top-ranking official in Bragg’s office. The person in question is Mark Pomerantz who said in his resignation letter last year that Donald Trump is, “guilty of numerous felony violations.” Go deeper here.
Trump Joins Tucker
Donald Trump praised California Gov. Gavin Newsom to a shocked Tucker Carlson in his first post-arraignment interview. Here’s the write-up from The Daily Beast. Here’s the clip.
“I used to get along great with him, you know, when I was president. Got along really good,” Trump said to a wide-eyed Carlson. “He was always very nice to me. Said the greatest things. He would say things like, ‘He’s doing a great job.’”
“About you?” Carlson asked in disbelief.
“About me. That’s why I could never hit him because he was so nice to me. Just laying in wait, right? But he was very nice to me—relatively speaking. Some of them weren’t. We did a good job for the governors. But they talk about him.”
Democrats, Walmart, & Chicago
On the same day Democrats announced their 2024 convention will be in Chicago, Walmart broke the news they are closing four stores in the Windy City. The news follows similar closings in Portland and Washington where theft was a leading factor. Walmart has closed 19 stores so far in 2023.
NPR Quits Twitter
National Public Radio has announced they are quitting Twitter after the company designated them “state-affiliated media.” Elon Musk said Twitter may change NPR’s moniker to “publically funded” which NPR did not see as fair. Twitter gave the same designation to PBS.
Matthew Foldi notes on Twitter that NPR “won’t put their journalism on platforms that have demonstrated an interest in undermining our credibility” but encourages viewers to follow them on TikTok which is Communist Chinese spyware.
