Clip of the day:
What?
California’s Rolling Blackouts
Rolling blackouts have begun in California as the power grid remains incapable of handling surging demand from the current heatwave. California issued the highest emergency energy alert as tens of thousands remain without power. The state’s energy policy will only make this worse:
Problems at the NRSC
Republicans are increasingly concerned about Senator Rick Scott’s approach to leading the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The Committee invested heavily in an online fundraising campaign that failed miserably and put it with significantly less cash on hand than its Democratic counterpart two months before election day.
The situation is so bad that GOP Senators are working to circumvent the NRSC to get money to Republican Senate candidates who need it.
Democrats Fret as Stacey Abrams Struggles in Georgia Governor’s Race
This is from The New York Times (paywall):
“Georgia Democrats have grown increasingly pessimistic about Stacey Abrams’s chances of ousting Gov. Brian Kemp from office, pointing to her struggles to rally key parts of her party’s coalition and her inability to appeal to a slice of moderate Republican voters who can decide the state’s elections.
Public and private polls have consistently shown her trailing Mr. Kemp, a Republican seeking a second term. And, in a particularly worrying sign for Ms. Abrams, polls also show she is drawing less support than the other high-profile Democrat on the ballot, Senator Raphael Warnock, who is seeking a first full term.”
