Striking Down Roe
The Supreme Court appears to be on the cusp of overturning Roe v. Wade according to a draft of a majority opinion by Justice Alito leaked to Politico. I wrote extensively about it here. Here’s what Alito said:
Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division.

Primary Day: Ohio Senate Race
One of the most contentious primaries in the country is taking place today in Ohio. Five major GOP candidates are vying for the seat of retiring U.S. Senator Rob Portman. Multiple candidates have notable endorsements from major political figures. JD Vance has the endorsement of Donald Trump. Josh Mandel has the backing of Ted Cruz. Jane Timken has the support of Rob Portman. Mike Gibbons is endorsed by Rand Paul. Matt Dolan has no major endorsements but has seen a spike in recent polling. Here’s a breakdown from FiveThirtyEight.
The most recent nonpartisan poll of the race, conducted April 20-24 by Fox News, gave Vance 23 percent, Mandel 18 percent, Gibbons 13 percent, Dolan 11 percent and Timken 6 percent, with 25 percent still undecided.
Job Openings Hit Record High
The number of job openings hit a record high of 11.5 million in March as employers struggle to find workers.
This is from Business Insider:
Much of the problem comes from the tepid recovery in labor force participation. While the economy has recovered about 93% of all the jobs it lost during the pandemic, there are still millions of once-working Americans still sitting on the sidelines and not seeking out work. The labor force participation rate rose to 62.4% in March, marking the highest reading since the health crisis began but still an entire percentage point below early 2020 levels.
Redistricting In Every State
FiveThirtyEight has an incredible map that shows how redistricting impacted every state. Check it out here.
