Squadless Cori
A second squad member has lost her primary sending shockwaves through progressive circles in the Democratic Party. Cori Bush was soundly defeated by Wesley Bell, the prosecuting attorney for St. Louis County in a primary election highlighting the political divide on the left.
Pro-Israel groups invested heavily in Bell after Cori Bush made deeply anti-semitic comments after the attacks of October 7th. An AIPAC-affiliated Super PAC dropped $8.5 million on Bell making the race one of the most expensive this cycle.
The antisemitic problem on the left continues to play out in plain view for all to see. Supporters of Josh Shapiro are suggesting that a pressure campaign from anti-Israel activists ultimately persuaded Kamala Harris to pick the highly progressive Tim Walz over Shapiro and his must-win state of Pennsylvania. The “Genocide Josh” campaign was spearheaded by some of the most progressive elements of the Democratic Party including multiple squad members.
Tim Walz ruthlessly went after JD Vance in his first public appearance yesterday. Here is JD’s response:

Kamala Harris donated last year to defund police group backing DC ‘sanctuary city’ law
Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff cut checks to a progressive legal group that pushed to defund the police and make Washington, D.C., a permanent “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants, documents show.
Legal Aid DC, a nonprofit organization in the district that works on housing law and represents low-income clients in other areas, received a $1,000 donation from Harris and Emhoff in 2023, according to a copy of their joint tax return. In 2021, the couple also directed $1,000 to Legal Aid DC, a Washington Examiner review of financial disclosures found.

Hamas’s Gaza Chief Yahya Sinwar to Take Place of Killed Political Leader
Hamas said Tuesday it had selected Yahya Sinwar, the group’s leader in Gaza and architect of the Oct. 7 attacks against Israel, to succeed the former head of its political wing, Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed last week in Tehran.
The ascension of Sinwar, a U.S.-designated terrorist, as the main leader of Hamas cements the Islamist group as an armed-resistance movement against Israel, shifting away from its role as a political entity aimed at governing. Sinwar also advocates a close alignment with Iran and his firmer grip on the group indicates he has overcome the voices within Hamas who were skeptical of that approach.
“Hamas is delivering a message that it is strategically lined up behind the armed resistance approach and sets Sinwar as an undisputed leader for the movement,” said Jehad Harb, political analyst with the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, a West Bank-based think tank.

Russia Is Rapidly Advancing In Ukraine
Russian forces have made swift and significant territorial gains in Ukraine, taking advantage of Kyiv’s military shortages and blunders as support grows among the Ukrainian public for a negotiated end to the war.
The eastern Donetsk region is the central focus of Moscow’s renewed offensive, which began late last year but has significantly increased in recent weeks. President Vladimir Putin’s main battlefield goal this year is to grab as much land as possible, according to senior Ukrainian officials who spoke to the Financial Times.
“Our defences are showing cracks,” said one senior Ukrainian official familiar with military operations. He warned that Russian forces had achieved “tactical success” in Donetsk and that more advances were likely unless the situation turns around.
