Clip of the day:
Biden: U.S. Military Would Defend Taiwan
Joe Biden made news early Monday morning when he flatly stated that the United States military would defend Taiwan if needed. The blunt answer pits the two largest militaries in the world against each other in this increasingly likely hypothetical scenario. For years China has asserted that Taiwan rightfully belongs to mainland China and has exerted increasing control over the island. We are waiting to see if the administration walks this back.
More from The New York Times:
“You didn’t want to get involved in the Ukraine conflict militarily for obvious reasons,” a reporter said to Mr. Biden. “Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?”
“Yes,” Mr. Biden answered flatly.
“You are?” the reporter followed up.
“That’s the commitment we made,” he said.
Cover Up: The Southern Baptist Convention
A new report confirms that leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention chose to cover up the sexual abuses of pastors for more than 15 years. The organization had a list of 700+ abusive pastors it chose to keep secret. I wrote about it extensively here. Christianity Today has deep dive here.
School Boards Wanted Military Deployed
The National School Board Association wanted the Army National Guard and the military police deployed to “monitor” school board meetings. The letter went on to ask that disruptive parents be examined as "domestic terrorists” under the Patriot Act. Go read this from Fox News.
Judge Blocks Lifting Of Title 42
A Trump-appointed federal judge is blocking the Biden administration from lifting Title 42. The Trump-imposed immigration restriction that was used to expel one million illegal immigrants was set to be revered with a wave of migrants expected to flood the border. The judge ruled that the law must stay in place until a lawsuit by 24 states is resolved in court.
Pelosi Banned From Communion
An archbishop from San Francisco wrote a letter informing Nancy Pelosi that she is banned from receiving communion due to her pro-abortion stance. Fox News has the letter:
"A Catholic legislator who supports procured abortion, after knowing the teaching of the Church, commits a manifestly grave sin which is a cause of most serious scandal to others. Therefore, universal Church law provides that such persons ‘are not to be admitted to Holy Communion,'" he says in the letter.
"Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law," it says, before calling abortion and infanticide "abominable crimes."
