Sanity Returns to Women’s Swimming (Kind of)
The global governing body for women’s swimming (FINA) ruled that only biological women can compete against other biological women. The new rule passed with 71.5% support over the weekend. The ruling comes after transgender athlete, Lia Thomas won multiple events this year including the NCAA women’s 500-meter freestyle title. However, the new policy will allow “those who transitioned before age 12 to compete in women’s events.” Uhhhhhh…
More from the New York Post:
FINA members widely adopted a new “gender inclusion policy” on Sunday that only permits swimmers who transitioned before age 12 to compete in women’s events. The organization also proposed an “open competition category.”
“This is not saying that people are encouraged to transition by the age of 12. It’s what the scientists are saying, that if you transition after the start of puberty, you have an advantage, which is unfair,” James Pearce, who is the spokesperson for FINA president Husain Al-Musallam, told The Associated Press.
Some International News
A former rebel was elected President of Columbia over the weekend in a shock to international pundits. The far-left candidate is the first progressive elected to the top office in the historically conservative country. The Washington Post has the best explanation.
French President Emmanuel Macron’s party lost control of parliament in a stunning rebuke to the pragmatic leader. Macron won reelection by double-digit margins just two months ago. The Wall Street Journal has the best explanation.
Julian Assange is one step closer to being extradited to the United States to face 18 criminal charges of computer misuse and espionage. However, the deal is far from over.
Democrats Expect Joe Biden to Run in 2024. They’re Less Sure If He Should.
This is from The Wall Street Journal:
Plummeting approval ratings, a stalled legislative agenda and surging inflation have fueled questions about whether Democrats would be better off in 2024 with a different standard-bearer. Roughly half of all adults and one-third of Democrats in a March Wall Street Journal poll said they didn’t think Mr. Biden would run again, with many citing his age as the main argument against him running. A Yahoo News/YouGov poll last week found 40% of 2020 Biden voters said he shouldn’t run again compared with 37% who said he should, a reversal from a month earlier.
Against that backdrop, some potential candidates are visiting key presidential-voting states and building a national profile in case Mr. Biden forgoes a re-election bid. But conversations with Democrats in Washington and in primary states found most don’t see a better or realistic option than the incumbent to top the 2024 ticket.
Pro-Abortion Activists Covered in Fake Blood Deliver Baby Dolls to Amy Coney Barrett’s Home
This is from National Review:
Pro-abortion protesters carrying baby dolls and wearing clothes stained with what appeared to be fake blood demonstrated outside Supreme Court justice Amy Coney Barrett’s home on Saturday.
Activists from Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights proceeded to Barrett’s home to protest the potential reversal of the 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade. A video posted to Twitter by the group shows protesters with their hands taped to baby dolls and their crotches covered in what appears to be fake blood.

Market snapshot: Markets are closed today.
A comment on Juneteenth…my daughter and I care for her father, who is a Vietnam vet and has multiple health issues. He had an appointment with the VA today, the 20 th of June, for their arrhythmia clinic. The appointment has been planned for a long time….when my daughter got her dad to the clinic, the lobby was open , but no staff were present. There were several other patients there also, and no one knew what was going on. When someone finally got in touch with a VA representative, and not a machine…..she told that person that it was a holiday and the facility was closed and she was sending someone to lock it up…..not an “I am so sorry you made the trip on 4.50 a gallon gas” . I find this level of incompetence unfathomable….these are supposed to be professionals working for our government…….’nuff said. Terrie
