The Red Sea
Most of the world’s largest companies are pausing shipments through the Red Sea due to an increased number of attacks from Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The Iranian-backed military militia has launched a bevy of drone, missile, and helicopter attacks on cargo and fishing vessels traveling along the popular shipping route.
What happened: The USS Carney shot down 14 “one-way attack drones” the Houthis used to target military and commercial vessels over the weekend. Despite Biden’s decision to remove the Houthis designation as a terrorist organization, the escalating attacks are forcing the administration to consider targeted attacks on specific Houthi outposts in Yemen.
Why this matters: The Biden administration’s unwillingness to respond directly to the Houthi attacks highlights Biden’s reluctance to open up another front to the war in the Middle East. However, as the Red Sea and Suez Canal remain essentially closed to international shipping, the price of oil and other domestic goods will slowly begin to increase as ships will be forced to bypass the Red Sea and instead travel around the horn of Africa.
Why are they doing this: The Houthis are responding to Israel's invasion of Gaza by claiming to target vessels with Israeli connections or headed to Israeli ports. However, this is widely known to be false and was proven earlier today when the Houthis attacked a merchant vessel known as Swan Atlantic which has no Israeli connection.

Protecting Girls Sports
A federal court is allowing four Connecticut girls to sue the state over a law that allows biological boys to compete in girls’ sports. Despite a judge dismissing the case back in 2021, a rare full meeting of all judges on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals resulted in the decision that claims the girls have legal standing to sue.
More: The article on the story at NBC highlights the language insanity the left demands in order to not be deemed anti-trans. Here’s the first line: A federal court will allow four cisgender runners to sue over Connecticut's trans-inclusive policy

Biden Boondoggle
Former President Barack Obama is one of the latest prominent Democrats to admit that Biden could lose his reelection bid telling The Wall Street Journal (paywall), “It feels that Democrats very well could lose.” The news mirrors a Washington Post (free version) story that says Joe Biden is increasingly frustrated with his dismal poll numbers. Here’s the quote:
After pardoning a pair of turkeys, an annual White House tradition, Biden delivered some stern words for the small group assembled: His poll numbers were unacceptably low and he wanted to know what his team and his campaign were doing about it. He complained that his economic message had done little to move the ball, even as the economy was growing and unemployment was falling, according to people familiar with his comments, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a private conversation.
If this wasn’t bad enough, The Washington Post (free version) has another story detailing the growing number of young Americans who want nothing to do with Joe Biden. Here’s the quote:
Young voters — especially young Black and Hispanic Americans — have shown signs of unease toward Biden. Maybe this is a transitory phenomenon, one that as the election approaches will begin to fade as these voters, alarmed at the possibility of another Trump presidency, return to the Democratic fold.
Hostages
After the IDF mistakenly shot and killed three Israeli hostages in Gaza over the weekend, Mossad chief David Barnea has been given permission to resume negotiations with Hamas for the remaining 127 hostages. CIA Chief Bill Burns, who played a key role in the previous hostage negotiations, met with Barnea and the Qatari prime minister in Warsaw to discuss the framework for a potential deal.
Related: The Israeli military has drawn up plans to invade southern Lebanon amidst an increasing number of attacks from Hezbollah. The Iranian-backed Hezbollah fighters are far superior in fighting experiences and weapons on hand to Hamas’s militants in the south.
Haley Gains On Trump in New Hampshire
Donald Trump still leads in New Hampshire, but Nikki Haley has consolidated much of the non-Trump vote and has emerged as the top alternative to him there. Among the top candidates, Haley gets the best marks on being seen as "likable" and "reasonable," and she runs nearly even with Trump on being "prepared" — notable, considering he held the presidency. She has been running in part on electability and is now seen as the most electable of Trump's challengers.
Meanwhile, Trump has consolidated his already commanding lead in Iowa, where likely caucus-goers overwhelmingly see him as a "strong leader," where his backers say he "represents Iowa values," and where he is boosted by an electorate in which nearly half say they are part of the MAGA movement.

Market snapshot:
Niki Haley is likeable & reasonable. Ron DeSantis is that and more and he proved it during COVID. Those who make first impression decisions should do themselves and their country a favor and take another look at what ALL the candidates are saying. DeSantis recent CNN Townhall in Iowa where he was allowed to speak (like at Erick's event) and answer real questions a good place to start. Too many these days get info from tweets or "blurbs". Ron is replying in facts not personal gotchas, treating this election with the respect it should get. The more I compare what I actually see them say the more I respect him & his positions, behavior, detail, and common sense.
Of course young people don't relate to Biden. How could they? Does anyone realize what the world was like 60 years ago when Biden entered politics.
On the Wonka movie, its not worth seeing. They don't use any LP's for the Oompa loompas as to not be offensive. Then got into a Reddit debate with someone who wanted me to define Woke.
Pretty simple. its the unwanted or unnecessary insertion of minority political ideology into media that either doesn't belong. Such as putting gay characters into every show, movie, advertisement, and article that it can. Changing the race or ethnicity of characters for no other reason than to do so.
No show or movie is safe these days from it and it is a scant few that are coming out that have none. And equivocally those movies are the highest grossing movies of the year. In Wonka's case they used a regular sized actor to stand in for the OL's. Denying little people actors any screen time. Is this is inclusive? doesn't look like it to me.
