Is He OK?
Joe Biden held a disturbing press conference in Vietnam that was littered with incoherent ramblings and a final declaration that he was “going to bed.”
Details: After telling an odd story about a random line in a John Wayne movie, Biden seemingly forgot his train of thought and paused for about 12 seconds before saying “Staff, is there anybody I haven’t spoken to?” Biden went on to say, “Let’s see…. I’m just following my orders here.” Full clip here.
Advertising: Some Democrats are scratching their heads at the Biden team’s decision to spend $25 million in early swing state advertising 14 months before a general election. As Chris LaCivita said, “If you are the incumbent president and you are spending $25 million more than a year ahead, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out you have a problem and need to fix it.”
Context: The move is raising red flags among some pundits who point out the Biden team is spending $25 million despite only raising $23 million through June of this year. The Washington Post (paywall) has the best take.
Bonus: On the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, the Biden team is openly celebrating Saudi Arabia’s support of President Biden’s infrastructure plan. Ouch.
EV Bungle
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm went on a four-day electric-vehicle road trip to encourage Americans to ditch their gas-guzzling SUV’s in favor of an EV. It did not go well.
What happened: Granholm’s advance team parked a non-EV vehicle in the last remaining charging spot at a gas station in Augusta, Georgia to reserve the space for the approaching Energy Secretary. A traveling family with a baby demanded the advance team remove the vehicle from the space so they could charge their vehicle on the hot summer day but Granholm’s team refused. Tensions flared as the incensed family called the police though charges were not pressed because it is not illegal to park a gas-powered vehicle in an EV charging spot in Georiga.

Ignoring Prayer
Coco Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka in a comeback victory to win the Women’s US Open title. Afterward, she knelt down to say a prayer before hoisting the trophy. Instead of recognizing an overtly Christian act from a player known for her faith, ESPN posted this clip saying she was “soaking it all in.”
Dungy: Tony Dungy was quick to respond saying, “I hate to break this to you SportsCenter but Coco Gauff was not “soaking it all in” at this moment. She was praying. She has been very open about her Christian faith in the past. It seems pretty obvious what she is doing here.”
