Jobs Jobs Jobs
The US economy added 142,000 jobs in August dropping the unemployment rate to 4.2% from 4.3% in July.
Investors carefully parsed the report looking for hints as to whether the employment data would lead the Fed to cut rates by .25 or .50 at their meeting in two weeks. As Nick Timeros from WSJ notes on Twitter, “This report doesn't neatly resolve the tactical question, and the pricing is at 50-50. The headline figures weren't bad enough to make 50 the base case but, in light of the revisions, it wasn't good enough to convincingly and cleanly douse speculation on a larger cut.”
Despite the relatively flat topline numbers, the data is fairly concerning on a number of levels:
The total number of full-time jobs fell by 438K positions while 527K part-time jobs were added.
Native-born workers in the US lost a combined 1.3 million jobs in August while foreign-born workers added 625K jobs.
Apalachee High School
The father of the Georgia school shooter has been arrested by police and charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Additional details were released regarding the shooter’s previous online threats that resulted in a visit from law enforcement last May. The shooter (we refuse to use his name) made online threats on Discord last year under a username that referenced the Russian translation of the Sandy Hook school shooter’s last name. The shooter denied the threats last May and law enforcement was unable to fully substantiate his connection to the account.
MUST WATCH: CNBC Guest on Harris
"Both of our parties are doing a terrible job. But, I'm particularly scared of the Democratic proposals not only around capital gains, but the idea that you would tax unrealized capital gains."
Kamala’s Shifting Beliefs
We all know that Kamala Harris has an evolving set of beliefs since her coronation as the Democrat’s nominee last month. However, Axios has the details on just how much she’s changed.
“Nine areas in which she's shifted views or her current position is unknown:
Banning plastic straws for environmental concerns. (She's no longer for it, as Axios reported Thursday.)
A mandate for automakers to only make electric and hydrogen vehicles by 2035. (The Harris campaign won't say whether she's still for it.)
Banning fracking because of concerns over global warming and potential water contamination. (No longer favors a ban.)
A mandatory buyback program for assault weapons as part of her gun safety agenda. (She's dropped this idea.)
Decriminalizing crossing the border from a criminal offense to a civil one. (No longer supports.)
Reparations for slavery, which many progressives argued for during the 2020 primary. (Position unclear.)
Building a wall on the Southwest border, a defining Trump promise that many Democrats have fought. (Accepted it as part of the bipartisan border package that Republicans killed.)
A federal jobs guarantee that was part of her Green New Deal proposal. (No longer for it.)
Medicare for All, which Harris embraced in her first year as senator. (She's backed off this.)”

I'm sorry, but why isn't the GOP party slamming this as campaign fodder.
The American corporatist establishment and ruling class have systematically decimated the economic opportunity of the working class and poor for decades, the Biden open borders fiasco is like them putting their boot on the neck of 80% of American people to finish them off.
To beat the heat, an Arizona man offers free water. His HOA is fining him...
I am on the Board of a small HOA, that HOA Board is being very stupid. I seriously doubt that the CCR' are so specific,
“the community’s rules do not allow a resident to advertise water bottle distribution from a portable ice chest, located next to their garage that is visible from neighboring property.”
They more than likely prohibit setting up a commercial stand and "selling" something. Would be interested to see the clause on garage sales.
So the Board is paying their lawyer to harass a homeowner which cost the HOA money and could ultimately lead to the HOA paying damages, because they will loose.
