A Democratic pollster released a poll showing the public generally supports what DeSantis has done for education in Florida. Go read the full story at NBC. Here’s an excerpt:
The day before his speech, one of the national teacher unions that oppose him (DeSantis) released a battleground-state survey showing voters approve of DeSantis’ education policy positions, and even some of his rhetoric.
Why Are Democrats Helping Republicans?
As Biden’s approval rating continues to remain near historic lows, Democrats are employing a new tactic to mitigate losses in November: support far-right conservative candidates in primaries so Democrats have an easier opponent in the general election. In Arizona and Pennsylvania, Democrats are running digital ads supporting Republican candidates they perceive to be the most beatable. However, not all Democrats are on board with this. This is from The New York Times:
To say that the Democratic strategy of putting a thumb on the scale for these charlatans and conspiracy theorists, in this political climate, has alarmed prominent liberals would be an understatement. The MSNBC host Chris Hayes called it “insane.” Barack Obama’s former chief strategist David Axelrod, who once helped orchestrate similar manipulation, recently wrote that in the Trump era, “I fear the tactic.”
Hayes and Axelrod appear to be right. Headline from Politico: Democrats boosted a MAGA longshot in the Pa. gov’s race. Now he’s got a real shot at winning.

Media types (especially CNN) are rushing to defend Joe Biden amid plunging approval ratings. Here are a few headlines:

As violent crime in Chicago soared, arrests fell to historic lows
This is from Chicago Sun:
In the years since Gordon’s sons were killed, violent crime in Chicago has continued to surge —and criminals are mostly getting away with it.
The police have made arrests in just 12% of crimes reported last year, according to a Chicago Sun-Times analysis. That’s the lowest level since at least 2001, the first year the data was made publicly available.
The overall arrest rate peaked at nearly 31% in 2005 and has dropped steadily.
