Clip of the day:
Trump 2024
Axios is reporting Donald Trump’s team is discussing a formal 2024 announcement on November 14th followed by a series of political events around the nation.
Trump quote in Iowa: "In order to make our country successful and safe and glorious, I will very, very, very probably do it again ... Get ready that’s all I’m telling you — very soon. Get ready."
Shots Fired At GOP Candidate’s Children
Pat Harrigan - a former Green Beret and Republican congressional candidate in North Carolina’s 14th district - claims shots were fired at his parent’s house where his children were spending the night after his Democratic opponent filmed an attack ad at the location. The FBI has opened an investigation into the matter.
NOTE: As of this writing, this story is wildly underreported with Fox News and a few conservative blogs being the lone exceptions.
Pessimism Sets In For Democrats
Yesterday we highlighted these stories that show a growing media pessimism over Democrats’ chances of mitigating the red wave next week. Today’s headlines are arguably worse:
Washington Post: Democrats from Kamala Harris to Hillary Clinton are spending valuable time in the bright blue state of New York defending Gov. Kathy Hochul. President Biden went to California and New Mexico to campaign for vulnerable congressional campaigns. Biden and Harris are heading to Illinois this weekend to fight for vulnerable Democrats in traditionally blue congressional districts.
Cooke Political Report: Cooke has changed their Senate projections to Republicans gaining between zero and three Senate seats.
Politico: Democrats are spending over 60% of their congressional campaign funds on House districts Biden won by 5 points or more. The range includes some seats Biden carried by 20 points.
Politico: Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan’s reelection bid just took a turn for the worse with Politico moving the race to a toss-up. Joe Biden won New Hampshire by 7 points in 2020 and many considered the seat safe until recent days. Here’s the quote that matters:
New Hampshire is one of three Senate races changing in our latest ratings update, in addition to four governor’s races and 13 House races — with almost all of the shifts going in Republicans’ direction. The political environment in the closing days of the race continues to move toward the GOP.
